Crusoe and Aalo Atomics Forge Strategic Partnership: First Nuclear-Powered AI Facility Planned
U.S.-based Crusoe and Aalo Atomics have reached a strategic partnership aimed at deploying the first nuclear-powered artificial intelligence facility. This commercial collaboration builds on Aalo's recent criticality achievement, underscoring U.S. leadership in AI and energy.

Crusoe's Spark modular AI data centers will be co-located with Aalo Atomics' nuclear reactor buildings at Idaho National Laboratory. The project aims to validate the effectiveness of nuclear energy for AI workloads. Cully Cavness, co-founder, president, and chief strategy officer of Crusoe, stated that next-generation AI infrastructure requires reliable, abundant, clean, and scalable power, and Aalo's reactors are designed precisely for that purpose. Crusoe's core value is "bending the energy arc toward sustainability," guided by the principle of leveraging its market position to support and accelerate energy innovation.
Aalo will initially power Crusoe's Spark™ modular data centers at Idaho National Laboratory in 2027 as a proof of concept. Looking ahead, Aalo and Crusoe plan to deploy Aalo Pods and 50 MW XMR nuclear plants to Crusoe's data centers by the end of 2029. Matt Losak, CEO of Aalo Atomics, stated that as one of only four companies in the U.S. Department of Energy's reactor pilot program to meet President Trump's deadline, they can now not only fully operate the 10 MW Aalo-X reactor but also deploy Aalo Pods to power commercial data centers.
Aalo has begun construction on its second nuclear reactor (adjacent to the Aalo-X test reactor at Idaho National Laboratory), testing a commercial-scale system that will generate electricity and power the on-site Crusoe Spark™ modular data center. The company has secured over $136 million in funding from investors including Valor Equity Partners, 50Y, and many others.
