East China University of Technology Establishes School of Excellence in Nuclear Energy and Nuclear Technology Engineering

On August 1, East China University of Technology held the inauguration ceremony of the School of Excellence in Nuclear Energy and Nuclear Technology Engineering and the first meeting of its inaugural council at Guanglan Campus. Xiao Qian, member of the Party Committee of the Education and Work Commission of the Jiangxi Provincial Committee and Deputy Director of the Provincial Department of Education, Zhang Fuqing, Secretary of the Party Committee of East China University of Technology, Xia Fei, Deputy Secretary of the University Party Committee, and Li Mangen, member of the Standing Committee of the University Party Committee and Vice President, attended the ceremony. The meeting specially invited Zhao Zhongsheng, Associate Researcher at Tsinghua University and Deputy Secretary-General of the Chinese Society of Academic Degrees and Graduate Education, and Li Binghong, Researcher and Executive Dean of the School of Excellence in Engineering at Shenyang University of Technology, to deliver special reports.

In his speech, Xiao Qian extended congratulations on the establishment of the School of Excellence in Nuclear Energy and Nuclear Technology Engineering at East China University of Technology. He noted that the inauguration of the School of Excellence in Engineering is both a proactive response to the national strategy and a precise alignment with Jiangxi's industrial needs, making it timely and significant. He emphasized that the School should uphold the fundamental direction of political leadership, remain committed to the original mission of educating talents for the Party and the nation, and cultivate outstanding engineering reserve forces for the new era capable of undertaking the great task of national rejuvenation. The School should closely align with the core needs of industrial development, deepen industry-education integration, establish a collaborative mechanism between universities and enterprises, and create a model for cultivating engineering master's and doctoral students. He expressed his hope that the University would take this as a new starting point, striving to build the School into a "Jiangxi model" for cultivating outstanding engineers in the field of nuclear energy and nuclear technology, and an "innovation hub" for deep integration of industry, academia, research, and application, making greater contributions to serving the national strategy and the high-quality economic and social development of Jiangxi.

In his address, Zhang Fuqing welcomed the guests attending the ceremony. He pointed out that East China University of Technology was born for nuclear energy and thrives on nuclear energy. Over the past seventy years since its founding, the University has always resonated with the development of the national nuclear industry, cultivating nearly 300,000 professional talents at various levels for the national defense and military industry and local economic and social development. He emphasized that, as the main entity responsible for building the School of Excellence in Nuclear Energy and Nuclear Technology Engineering, the University will assume its primary responsibilities and play the leading role, keeping the right direction and integrating moral education throughout the entire process; optimizing the system to reshape the training paradigm for engineering master's and doctoral students; strengthening the faculty and implementing collaborative guidance between university and enterprise supervisors; and taking root in Jiangxi to serve regional industrial upgrading. He expressed his hope to work hand in hand with all council member units to ensure the effective implementation of the collaborative education mechanism, striving to build the School into a benchmark for industry-education integration in the domestic nuclear energy and nuclear technology field, and to cultivate more pillars of talent for the high-quality development of the national nuclear industry and the modernization of Jiangxi.

It is reported that in the current term of the School of Excellence in Nuclear Energy and Nuclear Technology Engineering, East China University of Technology was elected as the chair unit, while China Nuclear Uranium Industry Co., Ltd., China National Nuclear Corporation Joint Graduate School, and Ganjiang New Area Management Committee were elected as vice-chair units. Seven units, including China Nuclear Industry Construction Co., Ltd., China Isotope & Radiation Corporation, China Nuclear Power Strategic Planning Research Institute Co., Ltd., Jiangxi Geological Survey and Exploration Institute, Tellhow Group Co., Ltd., New Radiomed Medical Technology (Jiangxi) Co., Ltd., and Ganzhou Good Friend Technology Co., Ltd., were elected as council member units. Representatives of the chair unit, vice-chair units, and council member units of the first council, leaders of sister universities, heads of various schools of the University, supervisors of engineering master's and doctoral students, and graduate student representatives gathered together to witness this important moment.
