OXOS Medical and Others Deploy Portable X-Ray Systems to Disaster Zones in Venezuela

On August 12, U.S.-based OXOS Medical announced that it will partner with the non-profit organization Love & Life Foundation and the rapid response and disaster intervention team MEDIC Corps to deploy the MC2 portable X-ray system to Venezuela to support post-disaster humanitarian medical relief efforts.

According to reports, the strong earthquake that struck Venezuela on June 24 has caused more than 16,000 injuries. For medical teams treating patients on the front lines in rubble and disaster zones, timely assessment of injuries such as fractures and chest or abdominal trauma is critical, but in areas with damaged infrastructure and limited resources, routine medical imaging examinations are often difficult to obtain in a timely manner. The materials also cite World Health Organization data stating that more than 4 billion people worldwide still lack access to diagnostic medical imaging services.

In this collaboration, Love & Life Foundation is responsible for transporting the MC2 system to the disaster area, where it will be operated by local physicians, while MEDIC Corps coordinates on-site response and diagnostic efforts in Venezuela. According to the arrangement, the first stop for the MC2 equipment upon arrival will be to serve a clinic.

The MC2 is a portable X-ray imaging system with an emitter weighing approximately 8 pounds that does not rely on fixed imaging infrastructure and can be used in remote and resource-constrained environments. The system brings X-ray examinations directly to patients and transmits images wirelessly, helping physicians make diagnostic decisions more quickly. OXOS Medical states that the MC2 features low radiation characteristics and can be used for both pediatric and adult patients.
