Changwon National University and Wrocław University of Science and Technology Partner to Cultivate Nuclear Power Manufacturing Talent
The Artificial Intelligence Innovation Research Center for Next-Generation Nuclear Energy Equipment and Component Manufacturing (AI-NMIC) at Changwon National University recently signed a cooperation agreement with Wrocław University of Science and Technology (WUST) in Poland, under which the two institutions will collaborate on talent development in the fields of next-generation nuclear power and nuclear energy equipment manufacturing. This marks AI-NMIC's first formal partnership with an overseas university.

Wrocław University of Science and Technology is one of Poland's key technical universities, with strong foundations in engineering fields such as mechanical, electrical, and materials science. As Poland advances the construction of its first nuclear power plant, demand for nuclear energy-related professionals is on the rise. South Korea's extensive experience in nuclear power plant construction, operation, and related engineering education also serves as an important backdrop for this collaboration.
This agreement is part of an energy talent development program supported by the Korean Ministry of Climate, Energy and Environment and the Korea Energy Technology Evaluation Institute (KETEP). Under the agreement, the two institutions will jointly host expert lectures, exchange research findings and academic information, cooperate on educational and academic activities, and promote the development and implementation of joint projects.
AI-NMIC has previously collaborated primarily with domestic nuclear power companies such as Doosan Enerbility, conducting programs including industry expert lectures, on-site training, and career placement. This cooperation extends such talent development activities overseas, helping to broaden international exchange channels for students and researchers.
Cho Yong-tae, Director of AI-NMIC, stated that this agreement serves as a starting point for cultivating internationally specialized professionals in nuclear power plant equipment and component manufacturing and for expanding practical exchanges among domestic and international researchers. The center will continue to promote the integration of artificial intelligence with advanced manufacturing technologies, creating more opportunities for students to engage with international research and industrial environments.
