Russian Power Machines plans to deliver two nuclear steam turbines per year starting from 2029

Power Machines, a Russian company, expects to deliver two steam turbines for nuclear power plants to customers annually starting from 2029. Anton Viktorov, Deputy General Director and Head of the Nuclear Energy Division, revealed that the relevant production capacity arrangements have been incorporated into the company's future plans. Viktorov stated that the company plans to sign contracts for three nuclear power units in 2026, along with several maintenance contracts for steam turbine and generator equipment; negotiations are also underway for contracts covering three additional units. He noted that this task places high demands on the company's production capacity organization and project execution. In terms of manufacturing capabilities, Power Machines previously disclosed that the company plans to produce 7 gas turbines and 14 steam turbines in 2026. With subsequent additional investments and production capacity expansion, the relevant factories will have the capacity to produce 10 sets of equipment annually starting from 2029.

Half of Turbines at Hungary's Paks Nuclear Power Plant Back in Operation

Hungarian Prime Minister Péter Magyar stated that the Paks Nuclear Power Plant has restored approximately half of its generating capacity, with full restoration expected to be completed earlier than originally planned. Four of the plant's eight turbines are currently in operation, and restoration efforts are ongoing. Magyar said on social media that operating conditions at the plant have improved as construction work near the Paks site progresses and the Danube River water level recovers. Based on the current pace, the Paks plant is expected to regain a generating capacity of 2,000 megawatts by Wednesday, which could meet about 35% of Hungary's electricity demand. Earlier, Unit 3 of the Paks plant was announced to resume power generation ahead of schedule on Saturday evening. Magyar noted that the unit's resumption of power generation is linked to on-site engineering measures and changes in the Danube water level.

South Korea's DaeChang Solution Secures Special Steel Contract for French Nuclear Power Turbines

South Korean steel casting manufacturer DaeChang Solution Co. announced on August 21 that it has signed a special steel supply contract with Arabelle Solutions France, with the products to be used in steam turbines for small modular reactors (SMRs) and large nuclear power plants. According to the announcement, the contract value is EUR 50.7649 million, equivalent to approximately KRW 82.631 billion based on the initial market exchange rate of KRW 1,627.72 per euro on the contract signing date.
