The IAEA says it has not yet received a request to verify nuclear cooperation between the U.S. and Saudi Arabia.

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) stated on July 23 that it is aware of plans by the United States and Saudi Arabia to request the agency to conduct verification activities regarding a nuclear cooperation agreement currently under discussion between the two nations, though it has not yet received a formal request.

In its statement, the IAEA said it looks forward to receiving such a request for verification and will cooperate with the United States and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to ensure the implementation of relevant measures.

According to the statement, the U.S. and Saudi Arabia remain in the discussion phase regarding the nuclear cooperation agreement, and the IAEA's subsequent involvement will depend on whether the two parties formally submit a request for verification arrangements.
