Curium Acquires Belgium's Abscint, Expanding HER2-Targeted Gallium-68 PET Oncology Radiopharmaceutical Diagnostics Pipeline

On August 10, 2026, radiopharmaceutical company Curium announced the completion of its acquisition of Abscint SA, a Belgian clinical-stage radiopharmaceutical company. The transaction grants Curium global development, manufacturing, and commercialization rights to ABS-011, further expanding its oncology PET radiopharmaceutical diagnostics portfolio.

ABS-011 is an investigational gallium-68-labeled positron emission tomography (PET) radiopharmaceutical diagnostic tracer targeting human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2). HER2 is an important biological target in multiple cancers, including breast cancer and gastric cancer. Based on available information, ABS-011 is designed to enable whole-body quantitative imaging of HER2 expression, and following further clinical development and regulatory approval, has the potential to provide more comprehensive HER2 status information for patient characterization and clinical assessment.

The tracer employs a radiolabeled single-domain antibody that rapidly binds to HER2, while unbound tracer is cleared relatively quickly from the bloodstream. This property gives it the potential to enable same-day whole-body PET imaging, allowing visualization of HER2 expression across multiple lesions and potentially revealing spatial heterogeneity that may be difficult to detect through biopsy of a single lesion, thereby helping clinicians select more informative lesions for biopsy.

ABS-011 is currently being evaluated in the multicenter Phase IIb clinical trial HERMIA being conducted in Belgium, with ClinicalTrials.gov identifier NCT06369831. Curium stated that it will leverage its experience in radiopharmaceutical development, manufacturing, and commercialization to support the continued advancement of this program.

Chait Tatineni, CEO of Curium Biopharma, stated that this acquisition adds a promising diagnostic asset to the company's oncology portfolio and supports the advancement of innovative radiopharmaceutical development for cancer patients. Karine Clauwaert, CEO of Abscint SA, stated that Abscint has long been committed to developing differentiated HER2 imaging approaches, and that Curium's scale and expertise in nuclear medicine will support ABS-011 in advancing to the next stage of development.

To date, ABS-011 has not received approval from any regulatory authority, and its safety and efficacy remain to be confirmed.
