CGN Medical and West China Hospital of Sichuan University Sign Proton Therapy Innovation Technology Cooperation Agreement

On August 14, the 32nd China International Medical Instruments and Equipment Exhibition & Technology Exchange Conference (China-Hospeq 2026) opened at the China National Convention Center in Beijing. CGN Medical was invited to exhibit under the theme of "Precision Radiotherapy · Nuclear Medicine Empowerment," showcasing achievements in the healthcare sector including the Hezhi® proton therapy system and the Hejia® germanium-gallium generator. The exhibits covered radiotherapy solutions, new medical isotopes, SiPM chips for molecular imaging, radiation protection, and medical device sterilization.

On the first day of the exhibition, representatives from relevant departments and institutions visited the CGN Medical booth, learning about CGN's product layout and technological progress in the nuclear medicine field, and expressing interest in its work on the domestic substitution of high-end medical equipment.

During the exhibition, CGN Medical Technology Co., Ltd. signed a cooperation agreement titled "Clinical Joint Development of Proton Arc Therapy and Adaptive Therapy" with West China Hospital of Sichuan University. Liu Lunxu, Executive Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of West China Hospital of Sichuan University, and Ma Shiming, Member of the Party Committee and Deputy General Manager of CGN Nuclear Technology Development Co., Ltd., witnessed the signing. Wang Xin, Deputy Director of the Department of Radiation Oncology at West China Hospital, and Zhou Chuan, Executive Director and General Manager of CGN Medical Technology Co., Ltd., signed the agreement on behalf of their respective parties.

According to the agreement, both parties will conduct collaborative research and development on the clinical translation of proton dynamic arc therapy and adaptive therapy technologies, with a focus on standardized clinical workflows, arc therapy quality control protocols, and intelligent decision-making for adaptive therapy, covering clinical needs, workflows, quality control, clinical trials, and validation. Both parties stated that the cooperation will be guided by clinical problems and centered on patient benefits, promoting the transformation of relevant technologies from the R&D stage to clinically applicable and physician-friendly diagnostic and treatment solutions.

In his speech, Liu Lunxu stated that proton therapy is one of the cutting-edge technologies in tumor radiotherapy, featuring high treatment precision and low side effects, yet continuous exploration is still needed in the clinical application and popularization of advanced technologies. The cooperation between West China Hospital and CGN Medical Technology Co., Ltd. will focus on clinical R&D of adaptive therapy and arc therapy to advance the development of high-end medical equipment.

Ma Shiming stated that since CGN Nuclear Technology entered the nuclear medicine field in 2020, it has established businesses in proton therapy, medical isotopes, medical radioactive waste disposal, and radiation monitoring, and has advanced the development and application of multiple proprietary products. The joint R&D with West China Hospital will drive proton equipment to further evolve toward intelligence on the basis of localization.

On the day of the exhibition, Cai Kechao, Product Director of CGN Medical Technology Co., Ltd., delivered a report titled "Medical-Engineering Collaboration · Creating the Future with Quality — Hezhi® Proton Therapy Full-Chain Independent Innovation Solution," introducing the localization practices of the Hezhi® proton therapy system, as well as progress in medical-engineering collaborative innovation technologies including proton arc therapy, online adaptive therapy, FLASH therapy, multimodal image guidance, and intelligent clinical and operational management. CGN Medical stated that it will continue to advance technology standardization through scientific research innovation, product upgrades, and service optimization, working with industry partners to help improve tumor diagnosis and treatment levels.
