Tianwan Unit 7 and Xudapu Unit 3 are expected to enter the commissioning phase within a few weeks.

Likhachev, Director General of Rosatom, stated on July 24 that Unit 7 of the Tianwan Nuclear Power Plant and Unit 3 of the Xudapu Nuclear Power Plant in China are expected to enter the commissioning phase within the coming weeks.

Responding to questions from reporters, Likhachev noted that China and Russia are advancing construction simultaneously on both the Tianwan and Xudapu nuclear power projects. He described this collaboration as involving an "unprecedented engineering scale" and stated that it exemplifies a world-class level of cooperation in nuclear energy.

He further indicated that both Tianwan Unit 7 and Xudapu Unit 3 are expected to enter the commissioning phase this year—potentially within the next few weeks—while Tianwan Unit 8 and Xudapu Unit 4 are scheduled for commissioning next year.

Currently, the first four units of the Tianwan Nuclear Power Plant, built with Rosatom's participation, are already in operation, and construction is underway on Units 7 and 8. Units 3 and 4 of the Xudapu Nuclear Power Plant are also being built simultaneously with Russian involvement. According to earlier information, Tianwan Unit 7 and Xudapu Unit 3 are scheduled to officially enter commercial operation in 2026.
