Six Polish companies enter final stage of supplier qualification for Westinghouse AP1000 first reactor
Poland's Mostostal Kielce, along with five other Polish companies, has entered the final stage of qualification jointly organized by Westinghouse and Polish Nuclear Power Company (PEJ), with the potential to participate in the construction of Poland's first nuclear power plant.

The plant will be located in the Choczewo municipality and will use AP1000 technology. The six companies entering the final stage include Mostostal Kielce, FAMAK, Ferrum Welded Structures Plant, Mostostal Siedlce, Mostostal Kraków, and Energomontaż-Północ Gdynia. In the final round, they will produce structural mock-ups to verify compliance with ASME NQA-1, the international quality standard for the nuclear sector.
Prior to this stage, the companies had completed the development of quality programs, preparation of technical documentation, production process descriptions, and training of welders and non-destructive testing personnel. Marek Woszczyk, President of Polish Nuclear Power Company, stated that this project is not only an energy investment but also a long-term development opportunity for Poland's industrial capabilities, and that reaching the final stage proves Polish companies are already capable of competing for the most demanding orders in the nuclear sector.
Mirosław Kowalik, President of Westinghouse Poland, noted that Polish companies have quickly adapted to the quality system requirements of the nuclear sector, and now have the opportunity not only to participate in Poland's first reactor project but also to enter the global AP1000 supply chain. Currently, seven Polish companies are participating in Westinghouse's qualification process. Expanding the domestic supplier base is a key step in increasing Polish companies' participation in strategic nuclear energy investments.
