T-Robotics to Participate in South Korea's Radioactive Waste Management Robot Demonstration Project

T-Robotics, a South Korean industrial humanoid robot and autonomous mobile robot (AMR) company, announced on August 4 that it has signed a memorandum of understanding to advance the "2026 Large-Scale Integrated Robot Demonstration Project."

The MOU was jointly signed by T-Robotics, the Korea Radioactive Waste Agency (KORAD), Klobot, and the Gyeongbuk ICT Convergence Industry Promotion Association. The parties plan to jointly pursue a government demonstration project targeting high-risk radioactive waste safety management scenarios, exploring the collaborative application of multiple types of robots in radioactive waste disposal facilities.

Under the agreement, the participating organizations will establish multi-robot operation models that enhance the safety and operational efficiency of radioactive waste disposal facilities, and based on the demonstration results, create conditions for subsequent commercial application. T-Robotics will participate in the multi-robot operation demonstration for high-risk radioactive waste safety management, providing relevant technical and informational support, jointly advancing project implementation, and contributing to the development and promotion of government robot demonstration project outcomes.

This agreement is a follow-up arrangement following the entry of the "2026 Large-Scale Integrated Robot Social Problem-Solving Demonstration Project" into its implementation phase. The project completed its selection process last month and is hosted by the Korea Robot Industry Promotion Institute. T-Robotics will undertake tasks related to unmanned operations for hazardous tasks within radioactive waste processing facilities, leveraging its autonomous mobile robot and industrial robot technologies.

T-Robotics stated that the company plans to further expand the application of robots in nuclear facilities and other high-risk industrial sites unsuitable for direct human operation. As safety regulatory requirements tighten and labor shortages intensify, the demand for robots to replace humans in hazardous operations at industrial sites is rising.

A T-Robotics official stated that industrial robots with precise control capabilities and stable operational performance are playing an increasingly prominent role in high-risk work environments. Based on the operational experience accumulated through this demonstration, the company plans to continue advancing AI-integrated industrial unmanned solutions and expand their application to high-risk industries such as semiconductors, chemicals, and steel manufacturing.
