Belarus and Uzbekistan Plan Energy Cooperation Roadmap, Nuclear Power Experience Cooperation Listed as Priority

On August 7, according to the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Energy, following a meeting between Belarusian Energy Minister Denis Moroz and Uzbek Ambassador to Belarus Nouriddin Mamanov, the two sides agreed to draft a cooperation roadmap in the energy sector.

The meeting focused on the prospects for Belarus-Uzbekistan energy cooperation and examined follow-up arrangements based on the consensus reached by the two countries' high-level officials during Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev's visit to Belarus in July.

Among the proposed areas of cooperation, collaboration in the atomic energy sector was identified as a key component. According to the discussions, the Uzbekistan nuclear power plant project will draw on Belarusian experience. Other areas of cooperation include energy infrastructure construction, the participation of Belarusian design and construction-installation enterprises in local projects in Uzbekistan, the electrical equipment industry, automation and digitalization of energy facilities, as well as personnel training.

Denis Moroz stated that Belarus and Uzbekistan enjoy a high level of mutual trust in the energy sector, with substantive dialogue between the two countries. The key priority now is to translate cooperation potential into concrete joint projects, and Belarus is ready to steadily advance practical collaboration in areas of mutual interest.

The two sides also discussed the establishment of a joint working group on Belarus-Uzbekistan energy cooperation and the drafting of a roadmap summarizing priority cooperation directions and projects for the future.
