Kazakhstan Signs Memorandum of Cooperation on Atomic Industry Development

The Atomic Energy Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Atameken National Chamber of Entrepreneurs of Kazakhstan, and the Atomic Industry Development Association (AIDA) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation, planning to jointly promote the development of the national atomic energy industry, expand industrial collaboration, and attract local enterprises to participate in major infrastructure projects.

The memorandum was signed by Almasadam Satkaliyev, Chairman of the Atomic Energy Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan; Kanat Sharlapayev, Chairman of the Presidium of Atameken National Chamber of Entrepreneurs; and Bakytzhan Kadyrbayev, Head of AIDA.

Under the memorandum, the parties will establish stable cooperation mechanisms among government, business, and industry associations regarding the development of the atomic energy industry, the strengthening of industrial collaboration, and the participation of national enterprises in strategic projects of Kazakhstan, while enhancing coordination of relevant activities.

Raising the level of localization is one of the key priorities of the cooperation. The parties agreed to support the development of local manufacturing, engineering services, and supporting services for the atomic energy industry, and to promote the establishment of a national supply chain system.

The cooperation will also focus on the participation of small, medium, and large enterprises in atomic energy and related industry projects. The memorandum proposes to support the development of national manufacturers and enhance Kazakhstan's domestic capabilities in technology, production, services, and professional consulting.

In addition, the parties plan to jointly develop analytical and professional recommendations for government agencies, exchange methodological and analytical materials, and propose improvements to the legal and regulatory framework in the atomic energy sector.

The signing of this memorandum provides a new platform for systematic collaboration between the government, the business community, and industry organizations. The implementation of the relevant arrangements will help expand opportunities for Kazakhstani enterprises to participate in atomic energy projects, increase the level of project localization, and promote the development of the industry's technological infrastructure.
