Hainan Danzhou Plans to Integrate Nuclear Power into Yangpu 220kV Power Grid

On August 21, the "New Advantages of the Free Trade Port 'Showcase' — Danzhou New Energy System Industrial Chain Cooperation Matchmaking Conference" was held in Shanghai. Representatives from nearly a hundred enterprises, investment and financing institutions, industry associations, and professional service organizations attended the event to exchange views on topics such as new energy system development and green, low-carbon industrial transformation, and signed a batch of cooperation agreements on site.

Regarding nuclear power-related planning, Hainan Power Grid Co., Ltd. stated that it is accelerating the construction of a new-type power system featuring zoned power supply and tiered operation in Danzhou. According to the plan, by 2030, a relatively independent new-type power grid will take shape across Danzhou, with nuclear power directly connected to the 220kV power grid in the Danzhou-Yangpu area. By then, enterprises in Danzhou and Yangpu are expected to gain access to more traceable and accountable green electricity.

Huaneng Changjiang Nuclear Power Co., Ltd. stated that it will leverage nuclear power as a cornerstone to advance the development of a national-level zero-carbon industrial park and comprehensive nuclear energy utilization. By synergizing green power supply with nuclear-powered zero-carbon steam, the company aims to explore an integrated solution of "nuclear power + industrial park + zero-carbon city" to support the development of Danzhou's new energy system.

The conference also saw the signing of multiple cooperation agreements centered on the full-chain green power application of "source-grid-load-storage-utilization" in Danzhou and Yangpu, covering areas such as testing, certification and low-carbon services, green energy supply assurance, industrial project implementation, and power service cooperation. These collaborations will help fill key gaps in Danzhou's green and low-carbon industrial ecosystem and enhance enterprises' low-carbon production capabilities.
