Hainan Changjiang Nuclear Power Unit 4 500kV Reverse Power Transmission Successfully Completed
On August 19, 2026, the 500kV reverse power transmission of Unit 4 of the Hainan Changjiang Nuclear Power Phase II Project was successfully completed, marking another major milestone in the engineering construction of the unit.

The 500kV reverse power transmission operation lasted approximately 15 hours. Throughout the power receiving process, equipment operated stably, all parameter indicators were excellent, protection devices acted accurately without error, and system live switching proceeded smoothly, fully achieving the established goal of "successful power reception on the first attempt." The realization of this milestone fully verified that the design, manufacturing, and installation quality of the 500kV main switchyard, main transformers, high-voltage auxiliary transformers, and related auxiliary systems of Unit 4 all met the required standards.
The Hainan Project Department of CNNC Engineering coordinated collaborative efforts across design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and other stages, establishing a dedicated task force for reverse power transmission. Specialized plans and emergency response procedures were developed months in advance, and multiple joint inspections and simulation drills were organized with all participating construction units. The project department proactively coordinated with the power grid company, equipment manufacturers, and on-site construction units, clearing the "last mile" in critical areas such as design changes, equipment defect elimination, and joint commissioning and testing, ensuring the entire reverse power transmission process was safe and controllable with an attitude of "zero tolerance for error."
Throughout the engineering construction process, the Hainan Project Department of CNNC Engineering has consistently adhered to the principles of "safety first, quality first," diligently practicing the work style of "rigorous, prudent, meticulous, and practical," and efficiently advancing project progress while ensuring safety and quality.

The successful achievement of this reverse power transmission goal provides reliable power supply assurance for the subsequent advancement of major milestones for Unit 4, including cold functional testing, hot functional testing, and fuel loading. To date, the overall engineering construction of Hainan Changjiang Nuclear Power Unit 4 is progressing smoothly, with all construction and commissioning activities advancing as planned. The Hainan Project Department of CNNC Engineering will continue to work hand in hand with all participating units, sparing no effort in advancing subsequent tasks, and contributing the strength of CNNC to the unit's early entry into commercial operation.
