Commissioning Preparation Work Begins for the Control System of Akkuyu NPP Unit 1 in Turkey
The process automation control system of Akkuyu NPP Unit 1 in Turkey has begun preparations for pre-commissioning signal testing, which will be carried out before the physical start-up of the reactor.

The process automation control system is the core hub of a nuclear power plant, enabling plant operating personnel to monitor and manage all process systems that support power generation.
Akkuyu Nuclear Company noted in its announcement that the control systems used in the units of Akkuyu NPP possess the extremely high reliability characteristic of Russian-designed units.
The control safety system responsible for automatic start-up and management of active safety systems has excellent fault tolerance, with a failure rate indicator reaching only one possible error per 100,000 years. This extremely high reliability is mainly attributed to a system architecture consisting of four independent and physically isolated channels, while digital modules are capable of continuous self-testing of their own equipment within cycles of a few milliseconds.
To ensure the nuclear power plant can operate safely under various complex environments, the entire automation control system of Unit 1 consists of more than 42,000 sets of equipment, all of which are manufactured in strict accordance with seismic qualification requirements.
Akkuyu NPP is the first nuclear power plant under construction in the Republic of Turkey. The project plans to build four VVER-1200 (Generation 3+) reactor units based on Russian technology, with a single unit installed capacity of 1,200 MW.
The construction of Akkuyu NPP is a first in the global nuclear power sector, being the first nuclear power project implemented under the "Build-Own-Operate" model.
