On July 23, Li Tingfang, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and Director of the Shanxi Provincial Medical Products Administration (SMPA), led a delegation to the Institute to conduct a research visit focused on the R&D and innovation of nuclear medical products. Liu Qun, Party Secretary of the Institute, and Guo Wenjun, Chief Accountant, accompanied the delegation.

The delegation toured the Institute’s R&D Center for Nuclear Technology (Non-clinical Evaluation of Radiopharmaceuticals)—authorized by the China Atomic Energy Authority—and the production workshop for "Beam Scanning and Measurement Systems." They listened attentively to briefings on nuclear medical devices nearing market launch and the innovation and commercialization status of nuclear medical products currently under development. Both sides engaged in in-depth discussions on building a collaborative innovation ecosystem—integrating government, industry, academia, research, and application—within Shanxi’s pharmaceutical sector and creating an efficient, seamless environment for the commercialization of innovations. The delegation provided professional, detailed responses to key issues raised by the Institute, covering policies and regulations, product R&D, technical support, and the review and approval process.

Liu Qun welcomed the delegation and emphasized that the SMPA has long leveraged its regulatory role to proactively empower the Institute. He noted that the Administration has provided comprehensive, ongoing support for the Institute’s scientific innovation, product review, commercialization of results, and platform development, demonstrating a strong commitment to serving scientific innovators and empowering industrial growth. As a national-level research institute based in Shanxi, the Institute will align closely with national strategic deployments and the province's industrial development goals. It will fully leverage its unique "six-in-one" advantages—comprising high-end facilities, authoritative platforms, robust research capabilities, core qualifications, a complete industrial chain, and top-tier talent. The Institute aims to deepen its focus on the specialized fields of radiopharmaceuticals and nuclear medical devices, cultivate "new quality productive forces" in the pharmaceutical sector, and drive innovation, product breakthroughs, and the commercialization of nuclear medical technologies. By actively integrating into the province's overall layout for high-quality pharmaceutical industry development, the Institute will fulfill its responsibilities as a central enterprise and demonstrate its commitment as a research institution based in Shanxi, thereby contributing significantly to the province's goal of becoming a national hub for nuclear medical industry innovation.

Li Tingfang noted that the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial Government attach great importance to the development of nuclear medicine and continue to increase support for the nuclear medicine industry. CIRP has long cultivated the integration of medicine and engineering; it boasts an early start, a solid foundation, distinct advantages, and fruitful achievements in the R&D of nuclear medical products nationwide, backed by a rich history and unique disciplinary strengths. It is hoped that CIRP will continue to deepen scientific research and innovation in nuclear medical products, providing robust intellectual support for the high-quality development of Shanxi Province's pharmaceutical industry. He emphasized that nuclear medicine—leveraging functional imaging and radionuclide-targeted therapy—plays an irreplaceable role in the diagnosis, staging, and personalized treatment of major diseases such as cardiovascular and cerebrovascular conditions and malignant tumors. The Provincial Medical Products Administration will fully implement the spirit of the "Measures of Shanxi Province on Comprehensively Deepening Regulatory Reform for Drugs and Medical Devices and Promoting High-Quality Development of the Pharmaceutical Industry (Trial)" and the "Notice from the General Department of the National Medical Products Administration on Launching the 'Spring Rain Action' for the Translation of Clinical Innovation Achievements in Medical Devices." By employing a working mechanism featuring "proactive engagement, product-specific strategies, end-to-end tracking, and dedicated task-force support," the Administration will strengthen policy guidance and technical services. These efforts aim to comprehensively facilitate R&D and innovation in nuclear medical products, accelerate the translation and application of research findings in the field of nuclear medicine, expedite the market launch of innovative products, and continuously inject strong momentum into the high-quality development of Shanxi's pharmaceutical industry.

Relevant officials from the Administrative Approval Division and the Drug Evaluation Center of the Provincial Medical Products Administration, along with key personnel and leading researchers from CIRP’s Industry and Market Development Department, Institute of Health Physics, Institute of Radiation Medicine and Environmental Medicine, and Frontier Center for Nuclear and Radiation Science, attended the meeting.
