China and Russia Discuss Cooperation on Non-Energy Applications of Nuclear Technology in Beijing

On July 24, Rosatom hosted a Russian-Chinese business matchmaking event in Beijing, focusing on cooperation in the non-energy applications of nuclear technology. Held at the Trade Representation of the Russian Federation in China, the event was attended by Alexey Dakhnovsky, the Russian Trade Representative to China; Long Maoxiong, Deputy Secretary-General of the China Nuclear Energy Association; and representatives from Chinese nuclear industry enterprises and research institutions.

During the event, experts from both Russia and China delivered presentations on topics such as material irradiation, post-irradiation examination, the performance of the Multipurpose Fast-Neutron Research Reactor (MBIR), and the production and supply of isotope products. Participants also discussed current and future collaborative projects, covering areas such as testing new materials for innovative nuclear reactors, technical challenges associated with thermonuclear fusion, and the supply of Russian radioisotopes for diagnosing and treating various diseases in Chinese medical institutions.

Artem Goncharuk, Head of Rosatom’s Regional Center in China, noted that the rapid development of nuclear science in China has created new business opportunities for Russian companies. Areas of cooperation include the supply of isotope products, material irradiation, post-irradiation examination, and the MBIR International Research Center project. He remarked that the active and broad participation of Chinese partners demonstrated the tangible demand for such cooperation.

Additionally, with the support of Rosatom’s engineering division, a photography exhibition titled "ASE: People, Nature, Technology" was held at the venue, showcasing achievements within the Russian nuclear industry.
