The Second Symposium on Frontier Issues of Ion-Matter Interactions Successfully Held at the School of Nuclear Science and Technology, University of South China
From July 3 to 6, the Second Symposium on Frontier Issues of Ion-Matter Interactions was held in Hengyang, Hunan Province. More than 40 experts and scholars from 15 institutions, including Beijing Normal University, Wuhan University, National University of Defense Technology, Beijing Institute of Technology, Dalian University of Technology, Lanzhou University, Xi'an Jiaotong University, North China Electric Power University, the Institute of Modern Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the Beijing Institute of Applied Physics and Computational Mathematics, conducted in-depth exchanges and discussions on the latest experimental and theoretical research progress in the mechanisms of energetic ion beam-matter interactions.
This symposium was hosted by the School of Nuclear Science and Technology of the University of South China, the School of Nuclear Science and Technology of Lanzhou University, and the Key Laboratory of Beam Technology of the Ministry of Education, and organized by the School of Nuclear Science and Technology of the University of South China and the Key Laboratory of Advanced Nuclear Energy Design and Safety of the Ministry of Education. Professor Yu Tao, member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of the University of South China, and Professor Zhang Fengshou, Chairman of the Beam Technology Branch of the Chinese Nuclear Society and professor at Beijing Normal University, delivered speeches at the opening ceremony respectively. The symposium featured 20 oral presentations. During the meeting, participants engaged in full exchanges and discussions on new theories, new technologies, and new advances in the field of energetic ion beam-matter interactions, shared their views and insights on key scientific issues in this field, and enhanced mutual understanding of each other's research work.

The Symposium on Frontier Issues of Ion-Matter Interactions was co-initiated by Professor Mao Fei of our university and Professor Chen Lin of Lanzhou University. It serves as a high-level academic exchange platform in China dedicated to the mechanisms of energetic ion beam-matter interactions, aiming to bring together young talents, promote interdisciplinary integration, and contribute to the development of China's exploration of ion beam-matter interaction mechanisms. This symposium was held under the guidance and support of the Beam Technology Branch of the Chinese Nuclear Society, which plays a bridging and bonding role in advancing domestic research on ion beam-matter interaction mechanisms and the application of ion beam technology.
