First Editorial Board Meeting of *Research & Design of Nuclear Engineering* Held in Beijing

On July 31, the first editorial board meeting of *Research & Design of Nuclear Engineering*, a high-standard English-language journal in the nuclear engineering field, was successfully held at the Beijing Nuclear Energy Building. Academician Lei Zengguang of CNNC, Editor-in-Chief, and Academician Tu Shandong of East China University of Science and Technology, Associate Editor-in-Chief, along with editorial board representatives from domestic and international universities and research institutes, including the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) in Sweden and Tsinghua University, attended the meeting. Relevant leaders from China Nuclear Power Engineering Co., Ltd. and CGN Engineering Co., Ltd., the journal's sponsors, as well as representatives from Science Press, the publisher, participated on-site. The meeting was chaired by Liu Liping, Director of the Science and Technology Department of CNNC Engineering.

At the meeting, Xing Ji, Chief Scientist of CNNC and CNNC Engineering, and Mao Qing, Chief Engineer of CGN Engineering, delivered speeches successively. Xing Ji stated that independent innovation in nuclear power engineering technology is a key driver for the safe and green development of China's nuclear energy. The launch of this international journal aims to establish a high-end academic exchange platform for deep integration of industry, academia, and research in global nuclear engineering. Since its inception, the journal's papers have reached 100 countries and regions across six continents, with steadily growing international influence, contributing strong academic strength to technological development in the nuclear field. Mao Qing pointed out that the journal should leverage China's advantages in its complete nuclear power industry system, attract top global academic resources, and build a professional academic platform that combines practical engineering value with international influence.

The ceremony for issuing appointment letters to the Editor-in-Chief and editorial board members was held in sequence. Xing Ji and Mao Qing jointly presented the appointment letter to Academician Lei Zengguang, Editor-in-Chief, who then presented appointment letters to all editorial board members. In his speech, Academician Lei Zengguang noted that this editorial board meeting fully consolidated industry wisdom and laid a solid foundation for the journal's high-quality development. He put forward three suggestions for future development:First, further uphold quality as the foundation of the journal and establish high standards for publication;Second, further strengthen the editorial board team and consolidate collective efforts in running the journal.Third, further deepen brand building and continuously enhance international communication effectiveness. He expressed hope that all editorial board members would pool their wisdom, continue to support the journal's development, deepen cooperation, and work hand in hand to elevate the journal to new heights, contributing academic strength to global nuclear energy development.

Liu Shiguang of CNNC Engineering delivered a journal work report, comprehensively presenting progress in preliminary preparations, publishing partnerships, and the establishment of the peer review system, while outlining medium- and long-term development plans covering featured column design, international joint special issues, overseas promotion, and young scholar cultivation.

During the open discussion session, Academician Tu Shandong, Associate Editor-in-Chief Ma Weimin of the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) in Sweden, and editorial board experts from Xi'an Jiaotong University, Harbin Engineering University, Tsinghua University, Tongji University, and other institutions exchanged views, proposing multiple practical measures on interdisciplinary column development, international special issue planning, peer review mechanism optimization, overseas academic promotion, and industrial achievement transformation columns, building consensus for the journal's sustainable and high-quality development.

Academician Lei Zengguang, Editor-in-Chief, delivered concluding remarks, expressing gratitude to all editorial board members, the two sponsoring organizations, and the publishing partner Science Press for their strong support. He outlined the key tasks for the journal's next phase and called on all editorial board members to unite their efforts in building the journal into an authoritative benchmark academic platform in the global nuclear engineering field.

This meeting brought together the strengths of academicians from the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering, experts from domestic and international universities, leading nuclear energy enterprises, and an international publishing institution, formally establishing the journal's core editorial board academic team and clearly charting the journal's development path. This will effectively promote academic exchange and collaborative technological innovation in the global nuclear engineering field, advancing China's independent innovation achievements in nuclear energy to the international mainstream academic stage.
