Rosatom Completes First Batch of Certification for Energy Critical Information Infrastructure Products

Rosatom has recently completed the first batch of product certification for critical information infrastructure in the fuel and energy sector under the "KII-Sert" voluntary certification system. The certification system has been operating in Russia's nuclear energy and aerospace industries since 2024, primarily used to assess the reliability, technological independence, and sustainability of solutions related to critical information infrastructure.

The certification was carried out by Atomenergoproekt JSC, part of Rosatom's engineering division. As an authorized certification body for trusted products and processes within the "KII-Sert" system, the company, in cooperation with the industrial testing laboratory Avtomatika-Servis LLC, certified a software and hardware system used in the oil and gas industry.

The certification assessment covered indicators such as reliability, compatibility, functionality, technological independence, and sustainability. During the evaluation, experts reviewed the full lifecycle of the product and its components, and conducted analysis and testing of software, hardware, software-hardware combinations, and related components, taking into account nuclear industry experience and the specific characteristics of oil and gas industry applications. Additionally, the certification work separately assessed whether development, production, and operational processes comply with technological independence requirements.

Eduard Sheremetsov, Deputy Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation, stated that KII-Sert certification is not a one-time effort but one of the systematic measures to ensure the technological independence and sustainability of the fuel and energy industry. The certification results will subsequently be analyzed to determine directions for further application of the system in the energy sector and to study the establishment of an industry-wide conformity assessment mechanism.

Yevgeny Abakumov, Director of Information and Digital Technologies at Rosatom, stated that this work marks a new stage in the operation of the KII-Sert system and provides conditions for its expansion to other critical information infrastructure sectors. The system can be used to confirm compliance of trusted solutions with industry requirements and to provide an assessment mechanism for the selection and application of non-imported products.

The KII-Sert voluntary certification system was registered and established by Rosatom with the goal of certifying solutions related to critical information infrastructure and ensuring the objectivity and reliability of certification results. The system focuses on confirming compliance of relevant products and processes with technological independence standards to enhance the continuous operability of critical information infrastructure.
