Professor Lin Guoxian from the BC Cancer Agency Delivers Academic Exchange at the Institute of Radiation Medicine, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences
Lin Guoxian: Professor at the BC Cancer Agency, whose research focuses on the development of targeted radiopharmaceuticals for the diagnosis and treatment of various tumors. To date, he has led/participated in the publication of over 135 peer-reviewed journal articles, filed more than 30 patent applications related to radiopharmaceuticals, and completed the clinical translation of 7 self-developed radiopharmaceuticals for the diagnosis and treatment of multiple tumor types.

During the seminar, Professor Lin Guoxian, based on his team's years of frontier exploration, systematically reviewed the research progress of nuclear drugs targeting PSMA for prostate cancer: first, the molecular design and clinical advantages of F-18 labeled PSMA-targeted PET imaging agents; second, the substantial improvement of tumor targeting of Lu-177 labeled therapeutic radiopharmaceuticals through rational optimization of molecular structures, while successfully achieving the dual goal of reducing uptake in normal organs such as the kidneys and salivary glands; third, the introduction of progress in the use of alpha-emitting radionuclides (Ac-225) for prostate cancer treatment and adjuvant administration strategies, providing new insights for reducing the toxic side effects of radiopharmaceuticals.

After the seminar, full academic exchanges were conducted both on-site and online. Participants engaged in in-depth discussions with Professor Lin Guoxian on key issues including criteria for evaluating high-quality targets for nuclear drugs, the application of AI in radiopharmaceutical design, structure-activity relationships of chelators and metals, and radiopharmaceutical therapy and radiation protection.
This seminar successfully established a bridge for academic exchange in the field of radiation medicine between domestic and international researchers. The frontier research findings presented by Professor Lin Guoxian provided valuable recommendations and support for the Institute of Radiation Medicine in advancing the innovation of targeted radioactive diagnostic and therapeutic drugs, as well as in exploring radiation protection measures related to the side effects of radiopharmaceuticals. In the future, the Institute will continue to deepen academic cooperation, empower scientific research innovation through high-level exchanges, and contribute to the development of radiation medicine.
