CGN Research Institute Launches "Hehui" I&C Production Line Construction to Advance Domestic Autonomy of High-End Nuclear Power Equipment

Recently, CGN Research Institute held the kickoff meeting for the "Hehui" I&C production line construction project in Shenzhen, marking new progress in infrastructure and capacity building for the "Hehui" brand. The project will serve the domestic autonomy of high-end nuclear power equipment, provide support for ensuring the construction progress of nuclear power projects and meeting the safe operation needs of operating units, and help enhance the resilience and competitiveness of China's nuclear power industry chain.

The meeting clarified the overall project planning, construction objectives, key milestones, and responsibilities of all parties, established the project management system, and deployed near-term key tasks. The meeting required all parties involved in the construction to increase resource investment, strengthen safety and quality management, strictly enforce technical review, uphold integrity standards, and ensure the production line is commissioned on schedule with high quality.

According to reports, CGN Research Institute undertakes the supply of dedicated I&C systems (3R) equipment for nuclear facilities under CGN Group, including the Hualong project, retrofitting of operating units, spare parts supply, and new reactor types. Its products cover reactor I&C cabinet series and detector series. Based on forecasts of the Group's future operating fleet data, the existing production capacity can no longer fully meet future growth demand.

Against this backdrop, in line with the "One Headquarters, Multiple Bases" research space layout of the China Southern Nuclear Science and Technology Innovation Center, the Research Institute plans to build the "Hehui" I&C production line at the Zhongshan research base, with a usable area of approximately 10,000 square meters, to create a high-end, precision nuclear I&C equipment manufacturing base.

The production line construction project aims to build a leading domestic "demonstration factory" featuring intelligent, standardized, lean, digital, and flexible manufacturing of dedicated nuclear power I&C products. It will establish four main production lines: core detector integration line, ex-core detector integration line, self-powered neutron detector integration line, and module-cabinet assembly integration line. Additionally, the project will leverage digital systems as the core, supplemented by smart warehousing and logistics systems and visual management systems, to further enhance production capacity and product quality.

"Hehui" is CGN's strategic, original brand for nuclear power intelligent equipment and robotics, addressing major national energy security and development needs, and serving the supply of nuclear power I&C systems, R&D of new nuclear reactor types, and O&M and repair of commercial units. The advancement of this production line construction will provide more stable capacity assurance for the manufacturing of dedicated nuclear power I&C equipment.
