Rosatom's Atommash and Rostov Region Government Discuss Volgodonsk Development Plan

Atommash, part of Rosatom's mechanical engineering division, recently held a working meeting with the Rostov Region government to discuss the enterprise's comprehensive development strategy and its social projects in Volgodonsk. The meeting focused on talent development, internships and mentorship programs, as well as urban infrastructure improvement plans for residents.

Atommash Plant Director Maxim Zhidkov and Rostov Region Governor Yuri Slyusar attended the meeting. According to the company, Atommash is implementing several talent development programs, including the "Green Grass Program" for university graduates. In 2025, approximately 600 people completed internships at the plant; over the past year, the number of young professionals joining the enterprise increased by 9%.

In terms of urban environment development, Atommash has participated in the renovation and modernization of sports and leisure infrastructure in Volgodonsk, and supports the development of kindergartens, schools, and medical facilities. Rosatom stated that from 2022 to 2025, its mechanical engineering enterprises have completed approximately 150 educational, cultural, sports, and public facility projects in Volgodonsk.

Zhidkov noted that the combination of experienced employees' expertise and young talent's energy is an important foundation for achieving the enterprise's long-term goals. In addition to advancing production tasks, the enterprise will continue to participate in Volgodonsk's development, creating better conditions for residents' lives and employees' work.

Slyusar stated that Atommash is one of the key industrial enterprises in the Rostov Region and a pillar enterprise for the city of Volgodonsk. The plant currently undertakes important tasks in ensuring technological sovereignty and nuclear power equipment supply, and the local government will continue to support Rosatom's social projects in the region.

Atommash primarily manufactures reactor pressure vessels, steam generators, and other critical equipment for large nuclear power plants, and participates in the construction of Rosatom's VVER-type nuclear power projects both in Russia and abroad. Since 2023, the plant has produced 9 reactor pressure vessels and 35 steam generators for Rosatom's new nuclear power units. Currently, Atommash is manufacturing two pressure vessels for the latest-generation III+ reactors for Units 3 and 4 of the El Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant in Egypt, as well as supporting equipment for the related units of this project. The plant will celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2026.
