China-Russia Energy Cooperation Committee Meeting Discusses Cooperation in Nuclear Energy and Other Fields

Ding Xuexiang, Member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Vice Premier of the State Council, co-chaired the 23rd meeting of the China-Russia Energy Cooperation Committee with Russian Deputy Prime Minister Novak in Vladivostok on the 4th.

Ding Xuexiang stated that President Xi Jinping and President Putin have held multiple meetings this year, conducting in-depth strategic communication and making top-level arrangements, drawing a clear blueprint for upgrading and enhancing China-Russia energy cooperation. Since the 22nd meeting of the China-Russia Energy Cooperation Committee, bilateral energy trade has steadily expanded, landmark major cooperation projects have progressed smoothly, and new progress has been made in clean energy cooperation. China is willing to work with Russia to implement the important consensus of the two heads of state, fully leverage the role of the committee mechanism, and elevate comprehensive China-Russia energy cooperation to a new level.

Ding Xuexiang put forward three suggestions for further deepening bilateral cooperation: First, continue to consolidate the existing achievements in energy cooperation, actively and properly address various demands of enterprises, maintain long-term sustainable development of oil and gas trade, and promote the orderly construction and stable operation of energy projects. Second, actively lay out new areas and directions for energy cooperation, tap into the cooperation potential in cutting-edge fields, explore the two-way empowerment of artificial intelligence and energy, and continuously broaden the depth and breadth of energy cooperation. Third, jointly promote the reform of the global energy governance system and make greater contributions to safeguarding the energy security and sustainable development of both countries and the world.

Novak stated that under the strategic guidance of the two heads of state, Russia-China energy cooperation has continuously achieved new results, playing an important role in the rapid growth of bilateral trade and the stability of energy supply chains. Russia is willing to work with China to optimize existing cooperation projects, expand and plan new areas of cooperation for the next stage, and make new contributions to deepening Russia-China practical cooperation.

During the meeting, the two sides reviewed the cooperation situation in fields such as oil, natural gas, coal, electricity, renewable energy, and nuclear energy, conducted in-depth exchanges of views on next-step cooperation, and reached broad consensus.
