KHNP Hosts Nuclear Safety Culture and Leadership Workshop

Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (KHNP) announced on September 8 that it held the "2026 Nuclear Safety Culture and Leadership Enhancement Workshop" at its headquarters from September 7 to 8, with discussions focused on building a safety culture oriented toward nuclear power plant sites and strengthening management-level safety leadership.

Approximately 40 people attended the workshop, including Cho Seok-jin, Vice President of Safety Technology at KHNP, as well as relevant officials from the headquarters and each nuclear power plant. Participants shared best practices and improvement items in safety culture development at each plant and discussed how to more effectively implement safety requirements in frontline operations and management processes.

The workshop also included discussions on major accident prevention, future nuclear safety technologies, and response strategies under the changing global nuclear industry environment. A dedicated session was arranged to study specific measures for establishing a field-oriented safety culture.

Cho Seok-jin stated that the root causes of safety incidents are often related to decision-making processes and organizational culture. KHNP will proactively identify risk factors at sites, apply the same safety standards to partner companies, and continuously maintain a high level of nuclear safety through strengthened communication.

KHNP plans to incorporate the specific tasks formulated during this workshop into safety culture improvement activities at each nuclear power plant and will continue to conduct follow-up inspections and assessments.
