Ningde Nuclear Power adopts AR maintenance solution, greatly boosting the efficiency of frontline operation and maintenance personnel

On September 9, at the production command center of Ningde Nuclear Power Plant, staff members only need to put on lightweight AR smart helmets and can obtain the required work information through voice commands. Equipment temperature and vibration data are automatically entered into the system, greatly shortening the time for inspection data entry. This AR smart helmet is an important benchmark project of Ningde Nuclear Power as a pilot enterprise for digital transformation under SASAC. It integrates information such as operation data, equipment drawings, work packages, and training materials, changing the traditional model in which nuclear power personnel rely on paper documents for on-site operations.

This AR maintenance platform relies on technologies such as diffractive optical waveguides, 5G real-time transmission, and cross-system data interoperability. It integrates functions such as temperature measurement, vibration measurement, and high-intensity flashlight, and enables automatic synchronous data entry, avoiding the cumbersome manual recording. More importantly, through the visual data cockpit, operation and maintenance personnel and management personnel can view equipment operating condition information and historical records in real time without frequently going to the central control room for inquiries. At the same time, key images during inspections are automatically uploaded to the cloud, facilitating remote monitoring and traceability.

In traditional nuclear power maintenance processes, the quality control (QC) sign-off step is time-consuming and can easily cause work groups to stop and wait. Now, even when QC personnel are far away from the site, they can verify through the images and data transmitted back in real time by the helmet and complete online electronic sign-off, significantly improving efficiency. In addition, the AR smart helmet also promotes paperless office work by breaking down complex maintenance procedures into electronic work steps and embedding operation demonstration videos and feedback from historical fault experience, making it easier for new employees to get started quickly.

This practical AR smart maintenance solution has become a benchmark innovation project of China General Nuclear Power Group and will be promoted across the entire base, providing practical help for improving the efficiency of frontline operation and maintenance personnel in the nuclear power industry. Through paperless operations, precise equipment positioning, intelligent process guidance, and online quality control processes, the system significantly improves work efficiency and enhances the operating experience, taking a solid step forward for Ningde Nuclear Power on the path of digital transformation.
