ACRA Rating Agency Confirms Rosatom's ESG Rating at ESG-2 (AA+) Level
On September 18, 2026, according to the latest assessment results, ACRA Rating Agency confirmed that the ESG rating of Rosatom State Atomic Energy Corporation (Rosatom) remains at the ESG-2 (AA+) level, which represents the company's exceptionally high evaluation in the areas of environmental protection, social responsibility, and corporate governance. This also marks the fourth consecutive year that the agency has confirmed this exceptionally high rating for Rosatom. At the same time, the rating agency assigned a “stable” outlook to the group, meaning that its ESG rating is highly likely to remain stable over the next 12 to 18 months.

To carry out the data collection work for this ESG rating, six core divisions under Rosatom actively participated, including the mining division, the power division, the fuel division, the engineering division, the machine-building division, and the “Sales and Trading” division. The combined revenue of these participating divisions accounts for more than 70% of Rosatom's total consolidated revenue.
In its assessment, the rating agency noted multiple notable strengths of Rosatom, including progress achieved in biodiversity conservation, the implementation of extensive social initiatives, and significant contributions to the social development of the regions where it operates. At the same time, the agency also identified areas for future improvement in the company's environmental best practices, including certification of its energy management system, external assurance of greenhouse gas emissions, scenario analysis of climate risks, and the development of a water resource utilization efficiency plan with specific targets.
Polina Lion, Head of Rosatom's Sustainability Division, stated that passing the annual ESG assessment is an indispensable part of any company claiming a leadership position in the field of sustainable development. For Rosatom, cooperation with ACRA Rating Agency is particularly important. The company has noted that the agency continuously improves its assessment methodology each year based on feedback from Russian companies and in combination with international experience and regulatory requirements in the field of sustainable development.
Rosatom State Atomic Energy Corporation is an integrated giant holding company whose business covers multiple fields including energy, machine building, and engineering construction, and whose core strategy includes developing low-carbon power generation, including wind power. As a leading company in Russia's domestic power generation sector, Rosatom is responsible for approximately 20% of the country's electricity supply and ranks first globally in terms of overseas nuclear power plant construction orders, with 41 nuclear power units currently at various stages of construction in 10 countries. In addition, its business scope extends to the manufacturing of non-nuclear innovative products, logistics and development of the Arctic Northeast Passage, ecological and environmental protection projects, and more. It owns more than 600 enterprises and institutions, with a total workforce of approximately 415,000 employees.
The assessment agency for this evaluation, ACRA, was established in 2015 as a product of Russia's ratings industry reform, providing high-quality credit ratings and non-credit assessment services to the Russian market. Currently, ACRA maintains more than 1,000 valid credit ratings and is the only credit rating agency in Russia that continues to use internationally comparable standards for ESG ratings. The cumulative amount of funds raised through its certified sustainable development financial instruments has exceeded 200 billion rubles.
As large Russian enterprises place increasing importance on sustainable development projects, Rosatom, which generates electricity through low-carbon power generation, is also continuously taking measures to steadily advance its transition to a “green” economy, providing solid support for ensuring the low-carbon transformation of the national energy structure.
