A delegation from Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City visited the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research to deepen cooperation in research and talent development

A working delegation from Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City recently visited the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research (JINR) in Dubna, Russian Federation, and held a working meeting. The two sides had in-depth exchanges of views on cooperation directions in talent cultivation, scientific research, and human resource development.

In terms of talent cultivation and human resource development, the two sides discussed cooperation in fields such as nuclear physics, particle physics, heavy ion physics, quantum physics, advanced materials, nanotechnology, applied mathematics, radiation biology, and data science. Specific forms of cooperation include exchanging master's students, doctoral students, lecturers, and scientists, as well as jointly supervising doctoral students.

Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City proposed giving priority to selecting capable university lecturers and young scientists to go to JINR for advanced training under the "Train the Trainer" model, thereby building a core team that can continuously drive the cultivation of local talent in Vietnam. JINR stated that it is ready to assist Vietnam in improving professional capabilities, especially in education and training in the fields of accelerator technology and reactors.

In addition, the two sides also discussed matters related to expanding JINR's information center network in Vietnam. Following two years of operation of the information center established by JINR in Hanoi, the two sides look forward to adding a new center in Ho Chi Minh City as soon as possible, creating more opportunities for local university students, graduate students, and researchers to access JINR's training and research programs.

In the field of scientific research, the two sides discussed the possibility of connecting scientists from Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City to JINR's major scientific research projects and infrastructure, including the NICA accelerator complex and the research reactor. The two sides will also promote joint research in fields such as nuclear physics, condensed matter physics, photonics, materials science, nanotechnology, and radiation biology.

In addition to the above cooperation areas, Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City also expressed its willingness to expand cooperation with JINR into frontier fields such as semiconductors, artificial intelligence, quantum technology, nuclear energy, and aerospace, and suggested that JINR share experience and provide professional consulting on the construction and development of key laboratories.

Previously, in October 2022, a JINR delegation visited Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City, and the two sides discussed the possibility of using JINR's scientific research infrastructure to serve students and researchers in fields such as biology, materials science, geophysics, engineering physics, and information technology. This visit by Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City to JINR further broadened the two sides' deep-level cooperation in talent cultivation and scientific research.
