On September 21, 2026, according to project information released by the Russian "Atom Machine" (Atom Machine, part of the Mechanical Engineering Division of the Russian State Atomic Energy Corporation "Rosatom"), the plant located in Volgodonsk (Волгодонск), Rostov Oblast, announced that its hydraulic blade stamping equipment for nuclear power plants, which is unique to date and has no equivalent in Russia, has completed modernization and successfully passed testing.

It is understood that this hydraulic press with a force of up to 15,000 tonnes has now successfully passed all tests and is fully ready for production. This equipment was originally put into operation in 1980. In this modernization project, engineers not only repaired mechanical components worn over decades and replaced the hydraulic system, but more importantly, carried out a digital upgrade of the entire equipment.

Through the introduction of a digital control system developed domestically in Russia, operators are now able to monitor various parameters in the production process in real time and directly carry out stamping operations with the help of preset automated programs. This has greatly shortened the process handover and processing time in the workshop, raising the operational reliability of this heavy equipment to a completely new level.

Maxim Zhidkov, director of the "Atom Machine" plant, stated that the successful implementation of this project fully demonstrates that with the help of modern information technology, heavy industrial equipment with historical heritage can be successfully transformed into a new generation of intelligent production complexes and regain vitality. This is a new milestone in the plant's development history. This modernization not only restored the mechanical structure of this unique hydraulic press, but also fundamentally achieved the digital transformation of the equipment.

Zhidkov pointed out that through the installation of new sensors, the operating status of the equipment is now monitored in real time. The upgraded complex is capable of performing complex process operations, greatly shortening the internal logistics chain and reducing the defect rate. Most importantly, the plant now has the capability to produce key components for all types of nuclear reactors, including the most advanced planned projects.
