Construction of Phase III of State Power Investment Corporation's Shandong Haiyang Nuclear Power Project Begins
Recently, Phase III of the Shandong Haiyang Nuclear Power Project under State Power Investment Corporation reached a major milestone as the first concrete was officially poured (FCD) for the nuclear island of Unit 5, marking the full-scale commencement of construction of the Phase III project.

As a key project in the national "15th Five-Year Plan," Phase III of the Haiyang Nuclear Power Project plans to build Units 5 and 6, adopting the domestically produced CAP1000 Generation III passive pressurized water reactor technology. Through technological upgrades, the project has increased the rated electrical power of a single unit to 1.3 million kilowatts, and innovatively established a diversified equity structure featuring "state-owned capital holding controlling shares and private capital participating as shareholders," becoming a typical demonstration of private capital participating in major national clean energy infrastructure.
In terms of engineering construction, the nuclear island FCD of Unit 5 involved approximately 6,626 cubic meters of concrete, using a one-time monolithic pouring process that took nearly 62 hours to complete. The Northern China Nuclear and Radiation Safety Supervision Office implemented full-process supervision, and all participating units relied on intelligent control measures to ensure comprehensive control of the quality of mass concrete construction.
With the advancement of Phase III, Haiyang Nuclear Power has officially entered a new stage of "multi-unit construction and multi-unit operation." After the project is put into operation, the base's annual power generation will reach 60.9 billion kilowatt-hours, with heating capacity covering more than 150 million square meters, making it the world's largest passive nuclear energy comprehensive utilization base and providing strong support for China's green energy transition.
