Siemens Healthineers and Cleveland Clinic Launch 10-Year Strategic Alliance to Advance Innovation in Advanced Imaging and Radiation Oncology

On July 30, Siemens Healthineers and Cleveland Clinic announced the launch of a 10-year strategic alliance, building on their 35-year partnership to further drive clinical and workflow innovation, enhance patient care quality, and improve healthcare operational efficiency.

Under the collaboration arrangement, Siemens Healthineers will provide Cleveland Clinic with a range of diagnostic imaging and treatment-related technologies, covering magnetic resonance imaging, computed tomography, radiation oncology, interventional radiology, and X-ray. Both parties stated that the alliance will focus on areas such as diagnostic imaging, cardiology, and radiation oncology, providing clinical teams with new tools and training support, and offering patients a more personalized diagnosis and treatment experience.

Siemens Healthineers will also expand its existing on-site support team. Currently, the team has more than 30 employees dedicated to serving Cleveland Clinic, and will add technical and training personnel in the future. One of the support initiatives is to assist Cleveland Clinic in developing a "theranostics" cancer treatment program. This emerging approach combines targeted imaging with therapy to advance personalized treatment for cancer patients.

Peter Liu, Enterprise Director of Imaging at Cleveland Clinic, stated that this strategic alliance helps deliver more consistent, more connected, and more advanced imaging and treatment services to patients. By more closely integrating technology, services, and clinical support within a global healthcare system, the institution aims to improve service accessibility, enhance efficiency, and optimize the patient experience.

John Kowal, Head of Siemens Healthineers Americas, stated that the long-standing partnership between the two parties has already made progress in the diagnosis and treatment of major diseases, with achievements including more than 100 research projects and 70 peer-reviewed publications. Both parties look forward to continuing to drive innovation and create a positive impact on patient care in the future.

The collaboration also includes supporting Cleveland Clinic in establishing a Center of Excellence for MRI Technologist Education, covering continuing clinical education, imaging protocol optimization, technologist skill enhancement, radiation safety education, and supporting physicians in expanding CT applications in cardiology, radiation therapy, and image-guided procedures. The two parties also plan to explore additional collaboration opportunities in research, education, talent development, and the integration of intelligent software and automation technologies into imaging workflows. The alliance will also carry out follow-up planning around biomedical engineering training and clinical education, and drive regional development through investment in Cleveland Clinic's main campus, job creation, and the continued growth of the Cleveland Innovation District.
