Best Cyclotron Systems 70MeV high-current proton cyclotron passes factory acceptance test, to be delivered to Taiwan, China

Best Cyclotron Systems (BCS) recently announced that its 70 megaelectronvolt (MeV) high-current proton cyclotron B-70 completed factory acceptance testing in July, and the equipment will soon be delivered to the National Atomic Research Institute (NARI) in Taoyuan City, Taiwan, China. Related installation and project construction are expected to be completed in 2027.

According to the introduction, B-70 was designed, developed and manufactured in Canada by engineers and scientists under TeamBest, and is an advanced cyclotron system for high-current proton beam applications. The equipment will be used to expand accelerator-based radioisotope production and research capabilities, and also reflects the company's continued deployment in high-current proton and multi-particle cyclotron technology. Related multi-particle capabilities include beam types such as alpha particles, deuterons and protons.

TeamBest Global's technology portfolio covers everything from 6MeV research cyclotrons to 70MeV high-energy multi-particle systems. BCS stated that the company is currently producing more than 10 cyclotrons of different energy levels for global customers, and is advancing capacity expansion in North America, Europe and India. The company has manufactured and installed nearly 40 advanced medical cyclotrons, and is expected to produce more than 10 units per year starting next year, with application areas including radioisotope production for nuclear medicine and radiotherapy, neutron generation, and basic particle research.

BCS also recalled that the company won the international tender for the National Institute for Nuclear Physics (INFN) high-current proton cyclotron in Italy in mid-2010, and completed commissioning of the B-70 cyclotron at the INFN Legnaro division in 2016. On this basis, Best ABT developed the BG-95 and B-11 cyclotrons for on-site preparation of positron emission tomography (PET) tracers, including radionuclides such as F-18, N-13, C-11 and Ga-68 used for cardiology, oncology and neurology imaging.

In addition, TeamBest Global's related cyclotrons also target key nuclear imaging isotopes such as technetium-99m, as well as emerging isotope production for targeted cancer therapy. The company is also developing a 200MeV variable-energy cyclotron proton therapy system, and designing medical synchrotron systems for protons, carbon ions and heavier ions, to serve application scenarios such as radiopharmaceutical supply and particle therapy.
