Henan Provincial Ecological Environment Monitoring and Safety Center Conducts Special Inspection on Nuclear and Radiation Safety in Wancheng District, Nanyang

From July 29 to 30, 2026, a research team from the Henan Provincial Ecological Environment Monitoring and Safety Center visited Wancheng District, Nanyang City, to conduct special supervision and inspection on nuclear and radiation safety for randomly selected nuclear technology utilization units within the jurisdiction, accompanied throughout by the Wancheng Branch of the Nanyang Municipal Ecological Environment Bureau.

The inspection focused on aspects including institutional development, personnel management, on-site protection, equipment operation, ledger documentation, emergency management, testing and evaluation, and system data of radiation units, with emphasis on identifying radiation safety risks and hidden dangers. The inspection team conducted detailed verification of radiation safety license applications to confirm whether relevant units carried out radiation operations in accordance with laws and regulations; it also examined the establishment of radiation safety management organizations, implementation of job responsibilities, certification of radiation workers, annual training, and assessment management.

During on-site inspections, the team also verified the implementation of radiation protection measures, with particular attention to the provision and use of protective equipment such as personal dosimeters and radiation alarm devices, and checked equipment ledgers, personnel information, and protective equipment data item by item. Regarding annual testing reports of radiation sites and personal dose monitoring reports of workers, the team focused on reviewing the qualifications of monitoring institutions, report completeness, and data validity.

For issues identified during the inspection, the team sorted them out item by item and provided feedback to the relevant units, confirmed the details of each issue with unit heads, and proposed rectification standards and time limits. In response to questions raised by radiation units in their daily management, the team also provided on-site answers, urging relevant units to further fulfill their primary responsibility for radiation safety.

The Wancheng Branch stated that it would take this special inspection as an opportunity to conduct comprehensive screening of weak links in supervision, closely track the closed-loop rectification of identified issues, and continue to advance hidden danger investigation, professional guidance, and legal awareness campaigns, further safeguarding the nuclear and radiation safety bottom line within its jurisdiction.
