CGN Dasheng Launches Nondestructive Testing Solutions for Power Batteries to Address New Safety Requirements for Electric Vehicle Batteries
The national mandatory safety standard "Safety Requirements for Traction Batteries for Electric Vehicles" officially takes effect on July 1, 2026, further raising the requirements for power battery safety inspection. In response to the needs for internal defect identification, fault tracing, and in-line production testing, CGN Dasheng Accelerator Technology Co., Ltd. has launched multiple nondestructive testing solutions, utilizing X-ray imaging, industrial CT, and electron beam scanning microfocus X-ray source technologies to provide inspection means for power battery quality control.
The internal structure of power batteries is complex, with cells typically composed of multiple layers of materials wound or stacked. During production, subtle defects such as electrode plate wrinkles, metal debris contamination, positive-negative electrode misalignment, and welding porosity may trigger safety hazards like overheating and swelling during subsequent charge-discharge cycles. Traditional destructive inspection compromises the original state of the battery and may result in the loss of critical evidence. Nondestructive testing, on the other hand, allows observation of internal structures without disassembling or cutting the cell, helping technicians identify defects and analyze the causes of failures.

According to the company, CGN Dasheng offers three types of solutions for different inspection scenarios. Its AI intelligent fluoroscopy inspection solution employs microfocus X-ray equipment and a self-developed AI defect recognition system, which can automatically capture and annotate internal defects such as wrinkles and foreign objects in cells, with a miss rate below 0.01% and recognition accuracy exceeding 95%, making it suitable for routine batch sampling inspection in factories.

The high-precision 3D CT inspection solution, leveraging sparse-angle scanning and professional reconstruction algorithms, completes 3D imaging of a single battery in approximately 50 seconds, enabling observation of fine structures such as electrode plates. It is primarily designed for high-precision analysis needs including new product development, process debugging, and fault review.
For automated production lines, CGN Dasheng also proposes a high-speed in-line CT inspection solution. This solution adopts electron beam scanning microfocus X-ray source technology, compressing the inspection time per battery to within 16 seconds. The process involves no mechanical movement, avoiding imaging artifacts introduced by mechanical motion, and is suitable for full in-line inspection of high-volume cells.
CGN Dasheng stated that with the implementation of power battery safety standards, battery quality inspection is becoming a critical process in production. Nondestructive testing technology can drive the transformation of battery defect identification from destructive disassembly to 3D nondestructive imaging, providing technical support for power battery production quality control and safety risk screening.
