Rosatom Fuel Division Completes Assembly of 30th Industrial Metal 3D Printer

On September 3, 2026, the Moscow Additive Manufacturing Technology Center of Rosatom's Fuel Division completed the assembly of its 30th industrial metal 3D printer. The equipment is the medium-sized RusMelt 300M, a flagship model in Rosatom's metal 3D printer product line. The rollout of the "30th" unit coincides with the 30th anniversary of TVEL JSC, the management company of Rosatom's Fuel Division.

According to reports, the additive manufacturing technology business unit of Rosatom's Fuel Division currently produces industrial-grade 3D printers capable of meeting manufacturing needs for components of various sizes, utilizing mainstream metal additive manufacturing technologies such as selective laser melting (SLM), direct metal deposition (DMD), and electron beam additive manufacturing (EBAM). Its product line includes seven industrial-grade 3D printing systems, covering models such as RusMelt 300M, RusMelt 600M, RusDMD 1500R, and RusBeam 1500, capable of manufacturing everything from small high-precision parts to large workpieces weighing several tons. In 2026, the product line was expanded with the compact RusMelt 150M and the large-scale RusBeam 2800 system, with the RusBeam 2800 already in operation in India.

In terms of production pace, the additive manufacturing equipment manufacturing capacity of Rosatom's Fuel Division has continued to expand in recent years. In 2023, its production plan included only three printers; by the end of 2025, a cumulative total of 13 units had been manufactured. The completion of assembly of the 30th industrial metal 3D printer indicates that this business has transitioned from the early engineering prototype stage to a more stable phase of industrial-scale production.

Ilya Kavelashvili, Head of the Additive Manufacturing Technology Business Unit of Rosatom's Fuel Division, stated that over the past few years, the division has shifted from the engineering experimentation stage to serial production of additive manufacturing equipment. Currently, Rosatom independently develops and manufactures 3D printers, metal powders, and software, while also providing service support, personnel training, and solutions for establishing additive manufacturing centers.

Additive manufacturing technology can be used to produce complex components that are difficult to manufacture through traditional casting and machining processes, helping to reduce product weight, optimize material consumption, and shorten manufacturing cycles. Data shows that 3D printing technology can eliminate steps such as mold making, casting, and milling, reducing new product development and manufacturing cycles from several months to just a few days; in some scenarios, the utilization rate of expensive metal materials can approach 90%. Related product applications span industries including nuclear energy, aerospace, and medical sectors.

Currently, more than 30 enterprises under Rosatom have adopted additive manufacturing technology in their production processes. The 30th industrial-grade 3D printer manufactured at the Moscow Additive Manufacturing Technology Center will be deployed at one of these enterprises to address specific production tasks and support the relevant industrial digital transformation.
