TAE Technologies and Black Moon Energy Sign Helium-3 Supply Cooperation Agreement
On August 5, local time, fusion energy company TAE Technologies announced a cooperation agreement with Black Moon Energy Corporation (BMEC). The two parties will collaborate on helium-3 (He-3) fuel supply solutions and commercial development needed for the future commercialization of fusion energy. Under the agreement, Black Moon Energy will supply helium-3 fuel to TAE Technologies.

TAE Technologies CEO Michl Binderbauer stated that the agreement helps accelerate the company's energy goals through alternative fuel supply solutions. The company noted that its fusion technology pathway offers high flexibility in fuel cycle selection, allowing it to choose more cost-competitive fuel cycles based on long-term fuel market changes.
Black Moon Energy CEO David Warden stated that building a future supply chain for fusion fuel is a critical step in bringing fusion energy to market. The cooperation with TAE Technologies will help establish the commercial framework needed to support the next generation of energy systems.
TAE Technologies has conducted research and development for nearly three decades and has built five fusion devices. The company is preparing to construct its first fusion power plant, "Da Vinci," with a designed power output of 50 megawatts. The facility will provide the foundation for subsequent commercial-scale fusion projects. The site selection for the Da Vinci plant is expected to be finalized later this year, with the company planning to bring its first fusion power plant into operation by 2031. Subsequent facilities are expected to be designed with capacities ranging from 350 megawatts to 500 megawatts.
TAE Technologies primarily advances field-reversed configuration (FRC) fusion technology, with its sixth-generation fusion device, "Norm," supporting the research and development of the Da Vinci plant. Black Moon Energy, meanwhile, is a private natural resources and lunar development company whose business areas include helium-3 resource development. The company plans to conduct a lunar robotic survey mission within five years to acquire data, conduct experiments, and reduce operational risks for future commercial-scale helium-3 production.
