US Blue Laser Fusion Completes $34 Million Financing

Recently, Blue Laser Fusion (BLF) completed a private placement totaling $34 million, with approximately $25 million closed in the first tranche. The financing is combined with a business combination and reverse merger arrangement, providing funding support for the company's subsequent engineering R&D, manufacturing capability development, and technology deployment. Laidlaw & Company served as the sole placement agent for the transaction.

This capital operation involves the co-acquisition of Unite Acquisition 2 Corp., with the combined entity operating under the name Blue Laser Fusion and becoming a publicly reporting company. Through this arrangement, the company is adjusting its corporate structure and capital structure, incorporating its existing laser technology R&D business into the combined entity to continue advancing financing and business development.

The raised funds will be allocated to pulsed laser R&D, inertial confinement fusion technology, and manufacturing supply chain development. In the fusion area, the focus is on advancing pulsed laser systems based on semiconductors and fiber amplifiers; in the manufacturing area, the company will expand optical manufacturing, laser engineering, and equipment assembly capabilities around its Goleta, California facility. Directed energy defense applications are also an important component of this capital allocation.

Blue Laser Fusion was founded by Nobel Prize in Physics laureate and company co-founder Shuji Nakamura and others, with core R&D directions including the Optical Enhancement Cavity (OEC) pulsed laser architecture. The company is conducting technology development around high peak power, high repetition rate, and efficiency. Both of its main business lines—fusion energy and directed energy—are in early-stage R&D, and subsequent work will continue to focus on engineering validation and system development.
