Recently, Startorus Fusion's self-developed native negative triangularity spherical tokamak (NTST) device has achieved two breakthrough milestones: the main structure of the device's experimental hall at the experimental base in Xuxing Town, Jiading District, Shanghai, has been successfully topped out, and the device's core component——the Dewar—has completed manufacturing and factory acceptance and been officially delivered.

It is reported that the Dewar, as the outermost core structure of the fusion device's main machine, can provide a high-vacuum insulation environment and a precise installation reference for the entire system, and is a key facility for ensuring the stable operation of magnet coils at cryogenic temperatures. The Dewar was independently designed overall by Startorus Fusion and jointly manufactured with Wuxi Huali Fusion Energy Equipment Co., Ltd. Its structure and interfaces have been specially optimized for the compact space of the spherical tokamak.

With the topping-out of the experimental hall and the delivery of the Dewar, the project team will comprehensively coordinate the improvement of supporting facilities and preparations for equipment entry, and successively carry out final assembly and commissioning work including Dewar positioning, magnet assembly, vacuum vessel installation, power supply and control system deployment, and integration and commissioning of cryogenic diagnostic systems.

As an explorer of cutting-edge controllable nuclear fusion technology, the engineering milestone breakthrough of Startorus Fusion's NTST device marks a solid step forward for the native negative triangularity spherical tokamak route toward the goal of first plasma discharge and full-machine verification, injecting new momentum into the engineering implementation of commercial fusion in China.
