Russia's First Domestic 3D Scanner Helix Included in National Product Registry, Rosatom Completes Additive Manufacturing Technology Chain

The Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade has included the first domestically produced 3D scanner, the RangeVision Helix, in the Unified Register of Russian Electronic Products and the confirmed register of Russian-made industrial products. The registration was carried out in accordance with Russian Government Resolutions No. 878 and No. 719. Thus, the Helix has become the first and currently the only 3D scanner in Russia to be included in the aforementioned national registers.

The RangeVision Helix was developed and manufactured by RangeVision, an additive manufacturing partner of Rosatom. Since 2025, the company has become the only Russian 3D scanner manufacturer included in Rosatom's additive manufacturing ecosystem. According to Rosatom's Fuel Division, with the device's inclusion in the national product registry, the company has formed a fully Russian autonomous technology chain in additive manufacturing, spanning from scanning and reverse engineering to 3D printing and quality control.

The device is primarily used for non-contact object digitization, enabling precise capture of object geometry, dimensions, and surface features, as well as generation of three-dimensional models. Its application scenarios include reverse engineering, design documentation recovery, geometric inspection, deformation detection, and part-to-CAD model matching. The device can serve industries such as mechanical engineering, energy, aerospace, and agriculture, and is suitable both for on-site measurements in production workshops and for digital capture of field objects such as agricultural machinery components.

According to available information, the Helix is a handheld 3D scanner featuring blue laser technology, with two operating modes — single laser line and seven laser lines — that can be adjusted for different tasks, from fine scanning of complex areas to rapid scanning of large parts. The device achieves an accuracy of up to 0.030 mm and a maximum scanning speed of 100 frames per second, and is suitable for objects ranging in size from 5 cm to 5 meters. The product's registration number in the Unified Register of Russian Electronic Products is 10835959.

To qualify for registration, RangeVision underwent a comprehensive production audit, including verification of all supply chain stages. Representatives of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry conducted on-site inspections of the company's headquarters, production facilities, and component supplier enterprises located in other regions. The company stated that the product's inclusion in the register is the result of sustained investment by the team in the development of proprietary electronic products, localized production, and in-house software development.

This registration will also have practical implications for purchasers. For customers procuring 3D scanners under Federal Law No. 44 or No. 223 of the Russian Federation, the Helix's registration status means that if the product is included in tender lists, foreign analogues will be excluded, thereby simplifying the supplier selection process. At the same time, the registration provides a basis for prioritizing the procurement of Russian products, advancing import substitution programs, and enhancing technological sovereignty.

The additive manufacturing technology business unit of Rosatom's Fuel Division is responsible for coordinating the company's internal resources to promote the application of 3D printing technology in the nuclear industry and other industrial sectors of Russia. Currently, the company's capabilities cover the development of 3D printers and components, specialized powders, software, printing materials, and training. The inclusion of the 3D scanner in its additive manufacturing ecosystem will further complement its capabilities in industrial digital inspection and reverse engineering.
