Gyeongju City, South Korea, Promotes Cooperation with Uzbekistan in Nuclear Power and Water Resources
Gyeongju City, South Korea, is pushing to expand exchange and cooperation with Uzbekistan in areas such as nuclear power and water resource management.

Gyeongju City stated on August 13 that Mayor Joo Nak-young met with an economic delegation from Kashkadarya Province, Uzbekistan, at the external cooperation office in the city hall that day. The delegation included Deputy Mayor of Bukak City Karimov Bakhtiyor Ismoilovich, as well as business figures from major industrial sectors in Kashkadarya Province.
Prior to visiting the Gyeongju City government, the delegation toured the Wolseong Nuclear Power Plant operated by Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (KHNP), as well as Gyeongju City's public sewage treatment plant and water quality research building. The delegation gained on-site understanding of local nuclear power plant operations, sewage treatment, and water quality management systems, and examined Gyeongju City's practical cases in industrial operations and environmental governance.
Subsequently, the delegation held talks with Joo Nak-young, during which both sides exchanged views on the industrial development status of the two regions and follow-up cooperation plans. The talks focused on the possibility of expanding practical exchanges in the economic and industrial sectors, and discussions were held on exploring new directions for cooperation.
Joo Nak-young expressed hope that this visit would serve as an opportunity for both sides to share industrial information and explore new areas of cooperation. Gyeongju City will further expand economic and industrial cooperation on the basis of its ongoing exchanges with Uzbekistan.
During the visit, the delegation also toured Donggung Palace and Wolji Pond to learn about the history and culture of Gyeongju, the thousand-year capital of the Silla Kingdom, concluding the day's schedule.
