Two US Companies Partner to Bring AI to Nuclear Power Plant Simulation Training
Nuclearn, a US artificial intelligence solutions company, and GSE Solutions, a supplier of high-fidelity simulation and operator training systems for nuclear power plants, announced a strategic partnership on August 20. The two companies will combine Nuclearn's AI capabilities with GSE Solutions' nuclear power plant simulator technology for applications such as plant simulation, operator training, and engineering analysis.

According to information released by the two companies, the collaboration will proceed along two tracks. GSE Solutions plans to integrate Nuclearn's AI features into its simulator products, providing training instructors with tools such as natural language scenario development, automatic performance summaries after training scenarios, adaptive quiz and assessment generation, and plant-specific physics explanations during training.
Nuclearn, for its part, will develop new features on its own platform based on simulator access privileges and operational data, including AI-assisted operator decision support, high-throughput scenario exploration for risk and design analysis, engineering modification sandboxes for evaluating proposed plant modification plans, pattern recognition tools for identifying early signs of equipment or procedure deviations, and simulator-enhanced AI capabilities to support the evaluation of new reactor technologies such as small modular reactors.
Jerrold Vincent, co-founder and chief financial officer of Nuclearn, stated that nuclear power plant operators have long relied on simulators to train and develop operational judgment, making simulator data one of the important sources for AI systems to learn nuclear plant operational behavior. Ravi Khanna, president and chief executive officer of GSE Solutions, stated that the company will advance AI applications while ensuring that training content remains effective, repeatable, traceable, and consistent with approved plant procedures.
The two companies will manage the collaboration through a joint steering committee comprising leaders from both companies' technical and management teams. Nuclearn also plans to showcase its AI technology at booth 404 at the NECX exhibition.
GSE Solutions has long provided high-fidelity simulation software, full-scope and specialized training simulators, digital control room solutions, and engineering model development services for commercial nuclear power plants. Nuclearn, founded in 2021, focuses on developing on-premises AI platforms for the nuclear energy industry, with its products already applied in reactor-related business scenarios across the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom.
