Dankook University Hospital Introduces Next-Generation Digital PET-CT System to Enhance Precision Diagnosis of Cancer and Other Diseases

Dankook University Hospital announced on September 1 that it has introduced GE HealthCare's next-generation digital PET-CT system, the "OMNI Legend 32," to enhance precision diagnostic capabilities for a wide range of diseases, including cancer, brain disorders, and cardiac conditions.

PET-CT is an important nuclear medicine diagnostic imaging modality. During the examination, a radiopharmaceutical is injected into the patient, and the system observes metabolic activity through positron emission tomography (PET) while simultaneously confirming anatomical structures via computed tomography (CT), thereby providing imaging evidence for clinical diagnosis.

According to the hospital, the newly introduced "OMNI Legend 32" employs AI-based image reconstruction technology to visualize small lesions with greater clarity, helping physicians make more precise judgments. The system's "table travel" has been extended to 32 centimeters, meaning the imaging range per bed position is approximately 1.7 times that of the previous generation, reducing the actual examination time from about 20 minutes to half.

In terms of patient safety, the system has also been enhanced. Its AI-based 3D camera automatically analyzes the patient's body characteristics and the examination area, assisting in determining the appropriate positioning to minimize unnecessary radiation exposure.

Kim Jae-il, President of Dankook University Hospital, stated that the hospital will continue to strengthen its advanced medical equipment configuration and diagnostic capabilities, striving to provide patients with faster and more accurate medical services.
