Dongfang Electric's Nuclear Generator Sealing Patent Wins China Patent Excellence Award

The China National Intellectual Property Administration recently announced the award decision for the 26th China Patent Award. Dongfang Electric Group won the China Patent Excellence Award for three patents, among which "a full-path sealing structure for turbine generators and its assembly method" has been applied to nuclear power generating unit-related projects, demonstrating its innovative achievements in key technologies for nuclear power equipment.

The world's first Hualong One nuclear power generating unit

The patent proposes a full-path sealing structure that breaks through the traditional intermittent sealing approach, constructing a continuous, uninterrupted sealing surface. By proactively preventing hydrogen leakage in generators, it reduces the risk of hydrogen explosion at the source. The related technology has achieved large-scale application and has been successfully used in projects such as the national major science and technology special project "Guohé One" and "Hualong One".

According to reports, this technology can significantly reduce hydrogen leakage in high-hydrogen-pressure nuclear generators, improving unit operational safety and economy. Meanwhile, the technology can also be quickly adapted to conventional coal-fired and gas-fired thermal power units, offering advantages for cross-scenario applications.

The China Patent Award is jointly evaluated and granted by the China National Intellectual Property Administration and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). It adopts a project recommendation approach, focusing on core patents formed through basic research, applied basic research, and breakthroughs in key core technologies.
