Changwon National University and Doosan Enerbility Conduct On-Site Training on Nuclear Power Main Equipment Design

The AI-based Next-Generation Nuclear Power Equipment and Components Manufacturing Innovation Research Center (AI-NMIC) at Changwon National University, together with the Regional Innovation Alliance Center for Medium-Sized Enterprises, recently completed the "On-Site Training on Nuclear Power Main Equipment Design." The training was held for students participating in related projects at Doosan Enerbility's site.

According to Changwon National University on August 31, the training lasted five days, totaling 30 hours, and was designed to help students acquire professional knowledge related to the design and manufacturing of key nuclear power equipment, as well as to understand the design, manufacturing processes, and practical application scenarios of nuclear power equipment through on-site corporate instruction.

The training covered multiple key technologies in nuclear power plant design and manufacturing, including seismic design, performance design, structural design, heat transfer design, fatigue design, thermal-hydraulic design, crack analysis, and flow design of nuclear power main equipment. Participants also toured Doosan Enerbility's nuclear power equipment manufacturing site to observe the production process of nuclear power main equipment, and further familiarized themselves with industry job requirements through expert lectures and Q&A sessions.

AI-NMIC undertakes the energy talent development project supported by the Ministry of Climate, Energy and Environment and the Korea Institute of Energy Technology Evaluation and Planning; the Regional Innovation Alliance Center for Medium-Sized Enterprises is supported by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology.

Cho Young-tae, Director of AI-NMIC, stated that such practical education helps students acquire knowledge of the design and manufacturing of key nuclear power equipment and understand the practical capabilities required at industrial sites. The center will continue to collaborate with industry to expand field-oriented educational programs and cultivate practical talent for the next generation of the nuclear power industry.
