Baiyunshan Xike Visits Jiujiang, Jiangxi to Explore Nuclear Medicine Industry Chain Cooperation

Recently, a delegation from Guangzhou Baiyunshan Xike Health Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Guangzhou Pharmaceutical Holdings Limited (GP Corp.), visited Jiujiang City, Jiangxi Province, conducting field inspections and discussion exchanges in Ruichang City, Jiujiang Economic Development Zone, and Pengze County, focusing on cooperation across the full nuclear medicine industry chain.

Liu Hong, Director of the Scientific Research Project Management Department of GP Corp. and Chairman and General Manager of Baiyunshan Xike, led the core team in exchanges with Chen Shuilian, Member of the Party Leadership Group and Vice Mayor of Jiujiang Municipal People's Government, as well as responsible officials from Ruichang City, Pengze County, and Jiujiang Economic Development Zone, reaching multiple consensuses on subsequent cooperation.

The inspection covered key facilities including the Ruichang Institute of Nuclear Physics Applications, the Biomedical (Nuclear) Industrial Park in Jiujiang Economic Development Zone, and the Jiangxi Tianhong Nuclear Technology project site in Pengze County. The delegation conducted in-depth visits to research laboratories, industrial parks, and projects under construction to understand local capabilities in nuclear technology research, isotope R&D infrastructure, project construction progress, as well as land and industrial supporting conditions.

At the Ruichang Institute of Nuclear Physics Applications, the delegation focused on investigating resource reserves and industrialization progress in accelerators and isotope R&D, nuclear equipment manufacturing, deuterated innovation platforms, and oxygen-18 and deuterium-depleted water technology products. The institute, jointly established by the China Institute of Atomic Energy and local authorities, has completed and put into operation multiple research and production platforms, with comprehensive capabilities in accelerator equipment, isotope bench-scale and pilot-scale custom R&D.

During the discussions, Liu Hong presented the layout of GP Corp. and Baiyunshan Xike in the nuclear medicine sector. Baiyunshan Xike has been advancing its system development across upstream nuclide production and equipment manufacturing, midstream original radiopharmaceutical R&D, and downstream clinical services and compliant logistics, while also expanding into overseas markets including Serbia and ASEAN. Both parties exchanged views on topics such as jointly building radiopharmaceutical R&D platforms, tackling domestic production of scarce isotopes, commercial synergy in nuclear equipment, and diversified development of the deuterium-depleted water industry, identifying multiple potential cooperation directions.

At the Biomedical (Nuclear) Industrial Park in Jiujiang Economic Development Zone, the delegation learned about the park's planning and project implementation across three major directions: nuclear medical devices, radiopharmaceutical biological reagents, and nuclear technology supporting services.

In Pengze County, the delegation focused on engaging with the Jiangxi Tianhong Nuclear Technology project. With a total investment of RMB 3 billion, the project involves the construction of a 20MW pool-type multi-purpose civil research reactor, planned to produce key medical isotopes including molybdenum-99, iodine-131, and lutetium-177, while simultaneously developing an integrated "five-in-one" industry chain encompassing isotopes, radiopharmaceuticals, nuclear equipment manufacturing, scientific research, and healthcare & wellness.

Regarding the reactor's future irradiation production capacity, both parties exchanged views on directions such as reactor-produced isotope scientific R&D, accelerator production line synergy, heavy water supply assurance, industrial supporting facilities, and bonded logistics platform development, and also shared opinions on industry-wide issues including cross-border isotope transportation and radioactive drug business licensing. All parties expressed their commitment to strengthening subsequent liaison and advancing the implementation of relevant consensuses.
