Hefei Proton Leap Commences Operations in Chaohu, Xirong Zhaobo Advances Fusion Equipment Industrialization

On July 26, Hefei Proton Leap Technology Co., Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Anhui Xirong Zhaobo Technology Co., Ltd., held its opening ceremony in Chaohu, Anhui. The official commencement of operations marks a new step for Xirong Zhaobo in the field of controlled nuclear fusion auxiliary heating equipment, transitioning from R&D customization to small-scale trial production, high-end equipment integration and commissioning, and batch delivery.

According to reports, Xirong Zhaobo signed an investment agreement with Chaohu City in October 2025; in December of the same year, Proton Leap relocated to Zhongke Zhicheng in Chaohu; and in June 2026, Proton Leap initiated trial production. Following this opening, the company will undertake tasks including Xirong Zhaobo's fusion high-end equipment manufacturing, integrated installation, high-power commissioning, and batch production.

At the opening ceremony, Tong Yi, General Manager of Hefei Proton Leap, stated that the company will focus on fusion high-end equipment manufacturing, strengthen quality management and engineering delivery capabilities, and lay the foundation for subsequent large-scale delivery. Zhu Guanghui, General Manager of Anhui Xirong Zhaobo, introduced that Proton Leap will assume three functions: first, as a mass production base to facilitate the company's transition from the R&D phase to batch production; second, to build a 6MW high-power test base, equipped with continuous power supply, cooling and heat dissipation, high-voltage power supply, and control support systems; and third, to establish a replicable management system to support future multi-base collaborative development.

Representatives from the Energy Research Institute of Hefei Comprehensive National Science Center and the School of Nuclear Science and Technology at the University of Science and Technology of China expressed during the event that they will continue to collaborate on technology R&D, industrial synergy, and the implementation of industry-academia-research projects. Representatives from end-user fusion customers, including Hefei Xinghe Fusion Energy Technology Co., Ltd., Dongsheng Fusion (Shanghai) Technology Co., Ltd., and Hefei Xingneng Xuanguang Technology Co., Ltd., also exchanged views on fusion equipment supporting, joint R&D, and industrial chain collaboration.

On the morning of the same day, Xirong Zhaobo signed strategic cooperation agreements with the 12th Research Institute of China Electronics Technology Group Corporation, CIMC Enric Environmental Technology Co., Ltd., Hefei Xinghe Fusion Energy Technology Co., Ltd., Dongsheng Fusion (Shanghai) Technology Co., Ltd., and Hefei Xingneng Xuanguang Technology Co., Ltd. According to the agreements, the parties will engage in joint R&D and industrial collaboration in areas such as radio frequency heating systems, high-power test platforms, precision manufacturing, and system integration.

Specifically, Xirong Zhaobo will collaborate with CIMC Enric Environmental Technology Co., Ltd. on precision manufacturing and R&D of high-end equipment, promoting the standardization and scaling of fusion equipment; jointly build a domestic supply chain for electric vacuum devices and test power supply platforms with the 12th Research Institute of China Electronics Technology Group Corporation; work with Dongsheng Fusion (Shanghai) Technology Co., Ltd. to tackle the radio frequency heating system for high-temperature superconducting tokamak devices; cooperate with Hefei Xingneng Xuanguang Technology Co., Ltd. in the field of linear device fusion heating; and explore stellarator radio frequency heating technology with Hefei Xinghe Fusion Energy Technology Co., Ltd.

Xirong Zhaobo stated that the company will continue to focus on engineering R&D and industrialization construction for fusion auxiliary heating systems and related high-end equipment, while emphasizing technical boundaries and technical safety during the cooperation process.

On the afternoon of the event, visiting guests toured the Proton Leap R&D building exhibition hall and production workshop to learn about the company's production processes, quality control system, and fusion equipment manufacturing capabilities. Guests also visited innovative products and application achievements of related enterprises within the Zhongke Zhicheng industrial park.

Data shows that Anhui Xirong Zhaobo Technology Co., Ltd. primarily focuses on the field of controlled nuclear fusion auxiliary heating systems, providing radio frequency heating equipment. Hefei Proton Leap Technology Co., Ltd., as its wholly-owned subsidiary, is located in Zhongke Zhicheng, Chaohu, and has built a modern production base and high-power commissioning base, primarily serving the integrated installation, high-power commissioning, and batch production of fusion high-end equipment.

Proton Leap has built a 6MW continuous wave high-power test platform, equipped with continuous power supply, high-flow cooling and heat dissipation, high-voltage DC power supply, and control support capabilities. It can provide engineering verification and commissioning services for core equipment such as fusion device auxiliary heating systems, RF power supplies, and high-voltage power supplies. The company also has a high-power, high-voltage product assembly line with manufacturing capabilities for component assembly, system integration, and factory testing, and has established an aging test platform with energy recovery functionality to meet the long-duration aging test requirements of high-power equipment.
