Controllable Nuclear Fusion Industry Intellectual Property Operation Center Launched in Hefei

On July 30, at the second meeting of the first member congress of the Anhui Fusion Industry Association held in Hefei, Anhui, the Controllable Nuclear Fusion Industry Intellectual Property Operation Center was launched. The center aims to focus on the creation, protection, and utilization of intellectual property in the fusion field, bridging the “last mile” of achievement transformation.

It is reported that the Controllable Nuclear Fusion Industry Intellectual Property Operation Center is one of the first batch of industry intellectual property operation centers recognized by the China National Intellectual Property Administration, jointly launched by the Anhui Provincial Market Supervision Administration, the Hefei Institutes of Physical Science of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Anhui Fusion Industry Association, and Fusion New Energy (Anhui) Co., Ltd. In the future, the center will accelerate the transformation of high-value patents by building a patent pool, promoting industry-university-research integration, and providing professional intellectual property services, serving as an accelerator and value transformation engine for the development of the fusion industry.

At the meeting site, multiple fusion industrialization projects were signed. The Energy Research Institute of the Hefei Comprehensive National Science Center established joint laboratories with five units to collaboratively tackle key technologies such as fusion materials and tritium-related equipment; eight key projects, including the Hefei Superconducting Materials R&D Center and the Stellarator Fusion Device, were signed and implemented, covering fields such as superconducting materials, core components, and fusion devices; four financing projects, including Henan Zhongke Qingneng and Hefei Keye Electrophysics, were signed, marking an important step for Hefei in building a full-chain ecosystem for fusion energy.

Li Jiangang, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, stated that fusion energy is an important direction for future clean energy and holds strategic significance for ensuring national energy security and promoting green and low-carbon social transformation. Anhui, as a key hub for fusion scientific research in China, will promote the deep integration of innovation, industry, capital, and talent chains.

This meeting was hosted by the Anhui Fusion Industry Association, with approximately 400 representatives from government, industry, academia, research, and finance sectors participating. The aim was to accelerate the transition of fusion technology from the laboratory to industrial application through multi-party collaboration, building an open and collaborative fusion industry ecosystem.
