After joining American Fusion Inc, Dr. D'Amico will continue his roles at Texas Tech University and BlankSlate Innovation, serving as Chief Operating Officer of BlankSlate Innovation. He also serves as Principal Engineer in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at Texas Tech University, with research interests including advanced nuclear diagnostics, helium-3 separation, AI-based CR-39 nuclear particle track analysis, and the development of advanced experimental systems for academic research and commercial applications.
Dr. D'Amico received his Ph.D. in Physics from Texas Tech University in 2026, with a dissertation titled "Advances in Detection and Materials for Next-Generation Nuclear Systems," under the supervision of Dr. Robert V. Duncan. His research focus encompasses advanced nuclear detection systems, radiation sensing technologies, and novel nuclear fuel materials.
During his graduate studies, Dr. D'Amico's work involved nuclear diagnostics, neutron detection, radiation measurement, vacuum system design, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and advanced experimental nuclear systems. His accomplishments include 3 peer-reviewed scientific papers, research under review, multiple patent applications, and publicly disclosed technical information covering AI-assisted particle track analysis, enhanced neutron detection, tritium analysis, and advanced nuclear instrumentation.
American Fusion Inc stated that as a strategic advisor, Dr. D'Amico will contribute to laboratory preparation, test planning, radiation diagnostics, instrumentation configuration, vacuum systems, data acquisition, measurement procedures, and technical documentation to support the development of the Texatron Fusion Engine. The company expects to initiate preliminary testing activities at Texas Tech University this week, subject to laboratory scheduling and operational readiness.
