First Concrete Pour Launched for Conventional Island of Jinqimen Nuclear Power Unit 2

At 22:16 on August 18, Zhejiang Jinqimen Nuclear Power construction reached another key milestone as the first concrete pour (FCD) for the raft foundation slab of the turbine generator building in the conventional island of Unit 2 was officially launched, marking the full commencement of the main construction of the conventional island of Jinqimen Nuclear Power Unit 2 and the project's official entry into the civil construction phase.

The raft foundation slab being poured, as the core load-bearing structure of the conventional island, is a variable-cross-section, super-large-volume, waterproof and impermeable special concrete structure, and is the core section with the largest volume, most critical working conditions, and highest precision requirements among the conventional island raft foundation structures. This construction involves long continuous operation hours, stringent temperature control and crack prevention requirements, and significant construction organization challenges. To ensure the safe and high-quality completion of the project, CNNC Zheneng fully demonstrated the "owner" spirit, played the "backbone" role, and shouldered the "main force" responsibility, jointly establishing a dedicated technical task force with construction and supervision units, building on the mature FCD construction experience of Conventional Island Unit 1 to comprehensively optimize the raft construction process for Conventional Island Unit 2, strictly adhering to the highest quality standards and safety regulations for nuclear power construction.

All participating construction units made advance coordination and meticulous arrangements, optimizing the circular transport routes for on-site mixer trucks and dividing the pouring work area into multiple pump-point zones; developing multiple emergency response plans for rainfall, power outages, equipment failures, and other contingencies, and conducting special safety technical briefings for all personnel; establishing an intelligent temperature monitoring network with dual early warning mechanisms for excessive internal-surface temperature differences and excessive cooling rates; implementing partitioned operations with dual-specification vibrators and a composite thermal insulation and moisture retention curing system; and deploying multi-shift party member-led rotating work teams to ensure the continuous, stable, and orderly progress of the pouring operation throughout.

During the pouring period, on-site inspections were conducted throughout to strictly control safety and quality risks; party member commando teams and youth commando teams held their positions at critical processes, identifying and rectifying issues immediately upon discovery; and logistics teams simultaneously provided support for catering, heatstroke prevention and cooling, and nighttime lighting. All project builders worked in coordination, firmly fulfilling their post responsibilities to ensure the high-quality completion of the project.

In the next steps, CNNC Zheneng will continue to uphold the principles of "Safety is the lifeline of the nuclear industry" and "Quality during construction is nuclear safety during operation," implement the requirements of "Absolute responsibility, highest standards, systematic operation, and experience feedback," extend the "Four Stricts" behavioral culture to frontline teams, actively practice the "Four Optimums" excellence performance philosophy, strive to enhance the initiative, enthusiasm, and creativity of all project participants, and make every effort to build a new-quality Hualong demonstration project featuring "Safety, Technology, Economy, Digitalization, and Integrity."
